Yes, I know April Fools is tomorrow...I'm a little slow these days. But for all you night owls and early birds in the morning, what fun ideas do you have for April Fools? Or maybe share something that's been done to you.

I'd love to get my little boys really good. I've heard about unscrewing the shower head and dumping Grape Kool-aid inside. Maybe DH will have a purple shower tomorrow...if he doesn't read this first.

My own question got me searching the net. Here's a cute one...

Jami,

Thanks for the link to the cute website. There were several great ideas there. I liked the "model parent" one. That one would really confuse my kids since my husband usually leaves for work before they get up. :p

I will be working into the wee small hours of the morning, so there's no telling what my befuddled mind will come up with..

I love the grape kool aid idea, but Lord knows if I took the shower head off I would probably be stuck trying to get it back on! I could see myself explaining that one to whoever has to come help me out. My ten year ols would freak!:D

Whatchya working on? Just being nosey. Hopefully something fun to make up for the lack of sleep.

I thought of another joke we played on my MIL two years ago. She didn't think it was too funny, though. At the time, there were 7 grandson's and NO granddaughter's on my DH side of the family. We were expecting our third child and had the big ultrasound a couple days before April Fools to find out the gender. She didn't know we had though. So on the 1st of April we called her and told her we found out the gender and it was a GIRL. Imagine her excitement...she was in tears she was so happy. We let her go on and on for a good while and then broke the news to her that we were just kidding and it was really a boy. She didn't know what to believe. We had to send her a picture of the US to prove it. She was pretty upset about the whole thing for quite a while. We still laugh hysterically about it though. BTW, my SIL just had grandson #9 and still no granddaughters.

Excellent point...I could see that happening to me, too. Guess I better come up with something else.

The gender thing is too cute. When DH and his brother were about 9 & 11 years old, their parents told them they were going to have another baby. The boys were so excited and went to school telling everyone they knew! It was such a let-down to find out they weren't going to be big brothers, and they still talk about it every year on April Fool's.

A friend of our got his wife really good. He placed a piece of clear tape around the spray nozzle on the kitchen sink. So when she got up the next morning to get some water...she got sprayed all over. Our boys are huge pranksters. They've done it all to my poor MIL because she's so gullible. They've done the saran wrap on the toilet seat trick amongst others.

Good Luck Jami. Let us know how you trick them!

I got my Hubby this morning... I went to get a cup of coffee in his office and shouted A MOUSE!!!!! its behind the card table... he paused and said we need something to hit him with, he took off his slipper and started to move the table and I said APRIL FOOLS!
I think this was the first year I got him first!
Now I just need to be on my gaurd the rest of the day!

I told DH my sister was leaving her husband and I invited her and her teenagers to stay with us as long as they wanted. He almost died!

no new ideas here but my favorite when I was teaching was to give a test and told them to read through the whole thing first, at the end it said jsut put your name on the paper and dont do anything. Only a few would catch on and the rest would be working for like 10 minutes. It was great fun.

One of my favorites when the kids were small was loosen the top of ketsup bottle! Preparing for a mess!

Once they are tall enough putting a rubber band on the water sprayer on the kitchen faucet! I usually saved this one for later in the evening! Built in shower lol

Oh yes for Daddy the medicine cabinet filled with hard candy. Once he opened the door the cardboard at a slant let the candies roll out onto the sink.......shame we don't have one anymore

Boy oh boy I have lots! LOL

What great ideas. Being a former teacher myself, I can really appreciate the test one.

So, here's what I've done so far. I poured two bowls of cereal with milk last night and stuck them in the freezer. This morning when it was breakfast time, I poured a little more fresh milk and cereal on top of the frozen and served it to my 7 and 5 yr. old. They took a few bites with no problem, but when they tried to dig deeper they couldn't. They both got frustrated and I started laughing and told them April Fools. Logan, my 7 yr. old, got the joke and laughed too. Cameron on the other hand has been mad at me ever since thinking I was being mean to him. Afterward I did give them normal cereal. It really got Logan's wheels spinning and he was coming up with lots of ideas he could do to his friends, teachers, and Dad. He is definitely my prankster.

I also stuffed a wad of paper towel in the toe of their shoes so when they went to put them on they didn't fit quite right. Again, Logan laughed and Cameron had a few mad words for me. I think it's the age. :)

One more thing I did was insert a little gummy worm inside Logan's apple he took for snack at school. I was able to make the slit really small so hopefully he won't notice. I'm anxious to hear what he thought of it.

When he left this morning he asked me to have some more ready for him when he got home from school. I better get thinking. They are little money scavengers so perhaps I'll super glue some coins to the sidewalk and when he gets off the bus he'll try picking them up, but won't be able to. Hmmmm....lots of fun today.

Hope you all are having fun, too and are the perps, not the victims. :)

Jami, you are too funny. My children would have loved that when they were younger. Being surly teenagers, they don't appreciate the funnier things in life anymore.

So far today, I've had at least 50 children tell me I have a bug on my shirt, a spider in my hair, and lipstick on my teeth. Unfortunately, the lipstick on my teeth was for real, and I didn't believe the little darling!:embarassed:

You guys are hilarious! Unfortunately I don't have any April fool's stories to tell...I don't have any kids yet, my husband is very vengeful when it comes to stuff like pranks and would surely get me back ten-fold, and I'm not sure my dogs would really appreciate it like your 7-year-old Jami! ;)

However, today is my sister's birthday, so you can imagine what it was like when my mom told my dad it was time to go to the hospital... He said, "Yeah, yeah, April Fools, go back to sleep..." 3 HOURS LATER she finally convinced him it REALLY was time to go!!!

Whoa, you're poor mom.

I stopped in Logan's class today and asked him how his apple was. He had this blank look on his face and said he saw something weird in it so he threw it away. I felt so bad for him...that was his morning snack. I think he was sadder that he'd missed out on the gummy worm when I told him what it was. So much for that one.

Are you kidding? Mama has and always will win. ;) Even David didn't try anything on me. Guess he doesn't share my humor.

Logan kept asking tonight if there were any more April Fools jokes. I am one tired mom tonight and hated to disappoint, but just couldn't pull another one off.

Cameron on the other hand told me repeatedly he doesn't like April Fools. He even went to the extent of asking Heavenly Father during the dinner prayer to please not let mom feed him frozen cereal anymore or put paper towels in his shoes. I felt so sad for him...just for a minute and then I looked at David and busted up laughing.

I'm already looking forward to next year. :D

You scare me Jami http://www.terpstra.us/images/vickiljt/Gifs/Attitudes/roflol.gifFrozen cereal? All I can do is to picture in my mind of me doing this to my husband and him being in his dress clothes for work and pouring milk into the bowl and having it hit that frozen stuff and the fresh milk go right out the other side of the bowl onto his clothes. Or worse yet, onto his expensive keyboard since he eats breakfast while checking his email. LOL

I think an adult would be able to figure it out before they poured the milk on, but since I pour my children's cereal for them in the mornings, they had no clue. I was worried about it splattering though. I was very careful.

In case anyone cares, this morning when Logan woke up the first thing he asked was if I would play the frozen cereal trick on him. What a boy!:D

Well that's probably true, although I'm half asleep first thing in the morning so someone could probably get me with that one Jami. BUT it would only happen once.

Too funny about Logan. LOL

I haven't mentioned it before since it was too late once I saw this but if any of you want me to post some recipes I've collected over the years that are for April Fools day I will. They are really great fooler type recipes, although I think the majority of them came from this website (http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/family/specialfeature/aprilfools-food-pranks-ms/)since I used to get the magazine years back.

Jami,
Since Logan had so much fun with the frozen cereal, you might like this one. My 8 year old dd did this on her own, and it has been 'getting people' all week. With our big household, we have LOTS of open cereal boxes on any given day. Ellie went into the pantry right before bedtime and pulled all the cereal bags out of the boxes and swapped them around. To her huge disappointment, nobody opted for cereal on Tuesday. But, she got 2 brothers on Wednesday, another on Thursday and her sister on Friday. It has been funny all week.

I love that! Everyone in my family likes a different cereal, so we usually have 6 or more boxes in the cupboard at any given time. I'll have to remember that one for next year.
