fun2sew - I got the towels at Wal-mart. They are Mainstays Waffleweave Microfiber towels. They had them last year, and then I couldn't find any until just recently. So I've been loading up on my supplies. They wash up so nice.

Those have been my favorite dish towels to embroidery on also! They are only like $5 for a pack of two. I buy a pack everytime I go to Wal-Mart!
The Dolly Mama's look great on them. Nice job!

I LOVE them....my friends would to. You did a great job. I had a little trouble doing one of the dolly mama's. I had to half the design and do one half first then when I went to do the other half for some reason it messed up just on the outlying (black part) did it in a pink...was weird. I have yet to figure out what I did wrong. I am a perfectionist so i got mad and have not attempted it again. Any pointers on how you did these?

Those are great. Did you applique the signs or stitch directly on the towel?
OMG- I actually just bought those towels- and have been looking at them trying to figure out what to do with them.
Your towels are awsome! I love the design and the embellishment you put together:D . Those are so cute- I need to get started on making some of those for those unexpected/ last minute gifts!
Thanks for sharing.

Very cute, I can think of several girlfriends that would love them.

Glad to see that I am not the only one grabbing those cheap towels from Walmart to embroider on. They are so soft! The ribbon makes those towels.

Jen - If you do not mind me asking, how do the Walmart towels wash up? I have seen them in the store and they are so soft, but I always wondered how they look and feel after they have been washed.

I just stitch it directly onto the towel.
Yeffie - I usually put a solvy stabilizer on top.
I have found these towels to wash and dry just fine. Sometimes with a dense design like the Dolly Mamas, I may let it hang dry so it won't pucker.

They are charming, and fun! Thank you for telling us where to get the towels, and that they don't draw up when washed. I have used something similar that shrunk so much that I was very happy that I had prewashed them. It's always nice with a gift if you don't have to wash first though.

I love these. I hae made several but for some reason I have problems on the Dolly Mama one about big girl panties. My machine makes me half the designs and on this one it totally messes with the thread colors on the second half of the design. did you have this trouble?

Dang, and I was just at Walmart yesterday. Good thing DD and I are off on an excursion tomorrow. In addition to Trader Joe's, I'm thinking there will have to be a little fabric hunting going on. These towels are as cute as can be, and I need to try some.

These are absolutely adorable. What a great job you did and I would buy them if I saw them even though I could make them myself. Now that a true compliment!
