One of the teachers in our school has been gifted $1000 from Oprah's Big Give in the Quad Cities, IL and is one of five finalists for the $5000 top award. Here is a link to the finalists and the voting - Julie and her kitchen are Finalist #4:

This money will go toward a handicapped accessible kitchen :eating: for her multiple disabilities kids. They have been using the art room (formerly the home ec room which has never been fully dismantled) and have been given permission to outfit a kitchen in the classroom by the district if they can raise the necessary funds, around $30,000. Local trades and merchants are donating time and materials, and a fellow teacher nominated Julie for this radio station contest. All the finalists and their projects are awesome, so do watch the video clips if you have a minute.
