Ok.... Who felt the earth shake around 5:30 this morning?
I did not, but alot of people around here in West Michigan did.
How about you Vicki? Is this more near you?

I didn't feel it about 70 mi SW of Chicago, but I was awakened by a phone call from my daughter in Bloomington (60ish miles south of here) who wanted to know if our house had been shaking. She had been here with our grandson a couple of years ago when the last noticeable quake occurred, but she said this one was more rhythmic and there was no noise this time. I'm currently waiting for a call from hubby, who is heading south on a golf trip and spent the night in S. Illinois. Wonder if he was all shook up ;)

Yep, you're right Dawn. It happened at 4:30am Central time and was originally reported as a 5.4 magnitude but then reduced to a 5.2 instead. There are widespread reports of it being felt from all directions as many as 450 miles away. It was in Southeastern central IL near the Indiana border. I haven't spoken to my kids that live down that way but I'm sure they would have felt it there if they were awake. One lives in Bloomington and the other in Galesburg.
I was up at 2:30am and about 4:15am I went back to lay on our bed to talk to hubby as he was getting ready for work so I didn't feel a thing on our pillowtop mattress. Had I still been in my chair I might have felt it. I do have proof things moved here that I wasn't aware of even 20 minutes ago. I just went to open my window here in the sewing room and the security lock that slides out of the side of the window to allow for air flow but stops the window from being opened all the way had popped out. I NEVER use that and just had the window open yesterday and never used it then either so I know things did rattle or it wouldn't have been out that way. We just didn't feel it on our soft bed. Plus I was playing with my cat while laying there. Now last night my cat absolutely refused to come to bed. This cat is like a time clock for routines and yet he didn't come to bed when we did and he always does. Instead he was walking up and down the hallway meowing which he also never does. We kept looking at each other saying what is up with him because it was so out of the ordinary for him. Well, according to studies animals can sense these things even days before they happen so that might have given us the explanation now for what he was going on about last night maybe.

Just two days ago, my mil and I were talking about earthquakes and earthquake insurance. We had discussed maybe putting earthquake coverage on our homeowner's policy. She said it wasn't too expensive to add on. I thought they always talked about a fault line going through Memphis area? I guess you never know. Are you all considering putting extra coverage on your policy? Hmmm?

I watched a few news stories on this. Glad to hear that all of our embroidables friends who live nearby are safe and sound. And hope all of our other embroidery friends are, too. :)

I have no doubt in that because you can honestly set your watch by what Baby is doing at any point during the day. And at bedtime he's behind me at the door to my sewing room at 9:30pm every night if I haven't started heading toward the bedroom making sure I know it's time for bed. Then he hops on the bed and lays at the end of Curt's side until Curt comes in too. After Curt's there, Baby gets onto his pillow which is actually right above mine against the wall and lays down. When Curt rolls to give me a kiss goodnight Baby gets up and stick his face right up against my head and stares at us. Yes, he's jealous of anyone getting near his Momma. LOL After that he lays down and kneads the pillow but that night before the earthquake he refused to even get on the bed no matter how much we coaxed him. He just kept meowing and walking up and down the hallway. We kept wondering what his problem was and now I know.
