Oh, please, yes do post pictures! Sewing prom dresses was always the MOST fun, largely because the girls always had this vision in their minds that eventually became The Dress. Wonderful memories...:)

Can't wait to see the big reveal! I'm off for the whole day to take a cool photography class from Karen Russell (http://karenrussell.typepad.com/). I've got to sharpen my photog skills before our little lady arrives. :D Have a fun day!

Jami,
Have a great time with the photography class. It really sounds like fun. Is it using a digital camera?

How cool. That sounds like it's going to be a fun class. It sure is a long class so you should get something from that for sure. So? Are you going to be the first to dance on the table so you get a cool door prize Vicki wonders. :p

Dawn ~ Where's those pics? I hope your girl (or is it both of them) has/have a blast tonight. Can't wait to see the dresses.

Just got home....
We my Hubby and I went out for Dinner after we were done taking pictures.
We went with my Oldest, Dani she is a Senior and she had a Friend that she hung around with as her Date. (orange dress)
They got to go to the Haworth Center and take pictures inside because the chance of rain... Cool place! (ok Vicki... you are scaring me) Do you know this place? Anyway, it was windy so it was nice to have pictures inside.

Ok... Here they are!
Dani is in the orange and Darcy is in the Blue (the dress that I made and changed a couple times!) Pattern Butterick #5184. She tried it on Weds. night and did not like the poofs sooooooooooooooo I made the dress straight.
I will not comment anymore...... LOL just let you know I had a TALL one tonight at Dinner!
I am glad this one is behind us!
Enjoy the pictures!

Oooh isn't that a gorgeous building? I love the windows that are almost cathedral like. I'm sure they'll have fun and are glad Mom and Dad left. hehe

OMG-both dresses are beautiful. I'm sure you REALLY needed the tall one at dinner. Enjoy your pictures, they'll remind you of all the fun of making the dresses.

So? Are you going to be the first to dance on the table so you get a cool door prize Vicki wonders. :p
Ummm...that's a big NO!! I wonder if I'd get a double prize though since there's two of me. :D You know, come to think of it, she didn't even do door prizes. Bummer. But, it was a great class and I learned a lot. I'll post a picture or two in a bit. Gotta run as we're having some friends over for dessert.

Dang, I was in such a hurry I didn't even realize I was logged in as David. Now, wouldn't that be funny if it was David who was dancing on the table pregnant. He'll kill me for saying that.

I wondered why David was saying that he should get a double prize since there was two of him....made for an interesting mental picture. :hmmmm:

Nice work, Dawn! The dresses are gorgeous, and the girls are even more so. Adorable. Hope everyone had a wonderful evening and that it was worth all the blood, sweat, and tears. (Oh, and remember this when you might be tempted to do bridal sewing one day...most wonderful project, but definitely requires multiple tall ones!)

Have a great, relaxing Sunday!

Love the dresses Dawn! However, this is the one time that I'm REALLY glad I had boys! I always wanted a little girl to sew for...but we do forget they grow up and can actually tell us how they want their clothes to look!:p

My mom does sewing and alterations for the public, and she is swamped at prom time every year (often with the mistakes made by the shop tailors!) Our prom was last night also, so now Mom can settle down and learn to use the embroidery machine she's had for a couple of months (yeah right!) She also works a full-time job and caters on the side. My mom will never slow down.:willy:

Your girls are just gorgeous...I know you're proud!

Dawn ~ You edited the post above mine and added the pic of the girls in their dresses and here I am saying something about the big windows. LOL I just now saw them. Great job. It's hard to see the blue one but do I see that you did embroidery along those long seams? If yes, post a closeup of that so we can see. :D

Did anyone dance on the table though Jami? Maybe that's the only way she does give a door prize. It looked like that's what she was saying in her blog when I read through things. Yep, you shoulda done it and then asked about two because of the baby. LOL I bet she would have done it and then you would have been famous because I bet she'd have put that pic on her blog for sure.

Too funny about being logged in as David. I've done that too many times while away from our house in a hotel when I didn't take my laptop with us. I've used Curts laptop to post in our blog on that other site we belong too and said really funny girly type things and even posted laughing at Curt about stuff he had done while we were gone. It was quite embarrassing but hillarious because of the things I posted. :p So yea, it happens to all of us at one time or another and those with Mommy brain it could happen again in the next few months too. HA

Can't wait to hear more about the class. I bet you got some great information. Was it pointed toward better picture taking overall or more pointed toward taking good pictures with creating a scrapbook in mind? I know that sounds like a dumb question, but there is a fine line between the two. My husband is on quite a few photog boards and has a few professional photogs that he'd love to take a class or two from but those guys charge over $500 for one class ~ a one day class!

The dresses are beautiful and the girls are, too. I have only a son and thought my fancy dress days would be limited, but, alas, he was married last week and I was asked (volunteered) to make the wedding dress. She could not find exactly what she wanted and Brian just knew Mom could make whatever Erika wanted. It was a great deal of fun and I was glad to do it, but I am equally glad it's OVER!

Dawn, The dresses are gorgeous, and such pretty girls, I remember those days of prom and such, trying to get my daughters' dresses just perfect to her. Now my daughter is graduating from USM on May 9, 2008. She went in the military then got out and went to school. She is now 33 and I am really proud of her. You are going to shut your eyes one day soon and opened them and the girls will be 10-15 years older...it happens to all of us. Now I am happy just watching all of the kids evolve into the adults that I knew they would become.

I misled this post and felt bad so I have moved the discussion about babies and dreds to its own post. :D As much fun as it's been to read about the ins and outs of dreds, I felt like Dawn's beautiful girls needed their own post. ;) If you'd like to continue that discussion, please join us here. Thanks Jami. It seems we hijack a lot of discussions around here like that.

Dawn??? You had more pictures. I know this. Did you ever figure out what the problem was in getting them uploaded? I'm sure I can help you. Email them to me and I'll get it figured out.

I know. I've thought that same thing many times. One discussion always leads to another. If you can think of a good way to handle that feel free to help us out.

Ummmmmm pretty much like this? :p

Honestly, the only way is to heavily "police" threads. I've suggested a few times in the past but not all the time.

Darcy looks beautiful. Nice job (on her and the dress).
