Mike and I are starting to plan our trip to Colorado. These are the states we may be traveling through: Lousiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi, Colorado, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, and West Virginia. I need to know points of interests, fabric stores, quilt shops anything of that nature, so that we can better plan our route. I appreciate any help y'all can give me. I've never been any further west than St. Louis so I'm getting really psyched about this trip.

Well, you happen to be in luck. I grew up in Missouri and now live in Colorado. I can help with those two states. The other fine people on this group will, I'm sure, be able to provide input as to the other states. What's your general path? If you're going through SW MO on Interstate 44, there's a great Amish store (real Amish store with real horse and buggies--good fabrics and inexpensive...) near Springfield. There's also a quaint little fabric store in a small town just outside of Springfield. When in Colorado -- in the Denver area, The Creative Needle in south Denver is great, and Ruth's Stitchery in Colorado Springs has won awards as one of the top ten quilt fabric stores in the country. What are your other interests? Sightseeing, hiking, taking it easy, city/urban, water stuff????? Let me know and I'll give you some hints that are less "touristy." Good luck and I hope you enjoy Colorado -- no bugs and no humidity.... can't beat it!

I'm not sure what routes we'll be taking, but I do know that we'll be staying off the Interstates as much as possible. We'll be traveling on two wheels. Yep, you heard me right. TWO WHEELS. We're taking a month long vacation. Our destination is Frisco, CO. We're going there for a rally. I'd like to know a little more about the amish store in MO. Is there a website?

Wow! Two wheels and that many states? My back end hurts thinking about that. LOL

You're skipping around my state and I haven't travelled those directions much at all. I've done a lot of Missouri and Arkansas but not for shopping in fabric stores and such.

All I can say is if you get near this restaurant while going through Missouri you MUST go. VERY good and lots of fun there.
http://www.throwedrolls.com/ And a hint if you are going ~ get there early for your meal. There is always a wait to eat but it's well worth the time.

I second Vicki's recommendation for Lambert's Cafe. It's a fun place to eat with good, down home Southern cooking. Enjoy your trip.
