Can't wait to hear more about the class. I bet you got some great information. Was it pointed toward better picture taking overall or more pointed toward taking good pictures with creating a scrapbook in mind? I know that sounds like a dumb question, but there is a fine line between the two. My husband is on quite a few photog boards and has a few professional photogs that he'd love to take a class or two from but those guys charge over $500 for one class ~ a one day class!
$500 doesn't surprise me. This one was 7 hrs. (even though she ended up going 8) and only cost 1/5 of that. Very well worth it, though!! Here's some pictures I took this morning right when Evan woke up. Keep in mind I'm just a beginner trying to learn the ins and outs of my camera. So, the story behind these is that we are listing our house on the MLS tomorrow and so we've been packing stuff up. I am giving away this cart to a friend so I have it downstairs waiting for her to pick up. Evan woke up and immediately started loading it up with stuff (got his blankie on it right now) and pushing it around. I like to take pics of the everyday things in life, so that's what I did.

Do any of you know Gail Tibbetts? She's a dear friend and Artista software guru. She teaches software classes in CO. When Evan was born she surprised me in the mail with this beautiful handmade blanket. It was such a happy surprise and it is THE one and only blanket for Evan.

Enough rambling....

Those are good. That first one if you turn it sideways he'd look like Spider Man on the side of a building with the pose and face he's got. LOL

Thanks! He was cute at that moment, but after two major blowouts today, two sheet changes, and two baths, he's not looking so cute to me anymore. Luckily, David took them out to dinner so I could get caught on some other things.

Ewww...so glad I'm past all that! He really is adorable (and great pics by the way.) Of course it won't be long until he's 19 or 17 like mine, and then it's a whole different set of ewwww's! My youngest has decided he would really like to have dreds like Jason Castro on American Idol. Being an art teacher, hairstyle has never been a major battle for me. However, I'm drawing the line at dreds...do you know what can crawl up in there and live for years?!!!

Eeewww, the thought of what could gives me the heeper jeepers. How do you do dreds, anyway? Would he have to grow his hair out or are they an extension woven in? I'm clueless.

I'm so glad none of my kids ever wanted to do that type of stuff. Dreads? Oh can you imagine? I don't see how leaving your hair like that for so long can possibly be good for it ya know.

You know, I almost told you that I really missed my kids being that age....but, after the day you had, I'm VERY glad they are all potty trained and can dress and feed themselves.

HA! Isn't that the truth? That's why grandchildren come along later in our lives. We still have that motherly feeling of wanting those adorable little ones around until we remember the days like poor Jami has had that snaps us out of that thought again. LOL THEN we are happy for grandchildren which can be adored just as much, but sent home again.

Poor Jami! Thankfully you have an awesome husband that will help you out when you have a terribly trying day like that. You are very lucky.

OH and much luck on that house selling really fast for you guys. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

His hair is actually a little long already. We just cut it some last week because it was getting too shaggy, and he wasn't too happy about that. He has actually read up on this and tells me that you basically knot up the hair and use beeswax to do something...I don't know, it just disgusted me past that point! Have I ever mentioned my problems with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?) I seriously have germ issues and have to be medicated for it. That's why my artsie self finally called a halt to the hair war over this one!

I've never read up on dreads before so I did a search and found this. Interesting site and it still sounds painful to me after reading this. It even says it is unless you have the right texture hair which I doubt your son has. Maybe if he read the amount of work this site says it takes, he'll be even more persuaded it's not a good idea other than Mom saying no. LOL They do say there are special waxes to use, not beeswax though. ;)

http://www.dreadlocks.com/

I had to laugh at the last part of the front page on that site. LOL

Please enjoy our site and tell others about us so we can educate the masses about dreads and maybe, just maybe we can prevent another child from trying to start his dreads with peanut butter and toothpaste!

Does you son know that removing them means cutting almost all his hair off to the longest of only 2 inches long?

Unfortunately he knows most all of this and still kindof wants them. My sister is graduating next week from an Aveda Institute with whatever you get (degree?) in order to cut hair. She is completely horrified by this precious angel wanting to do that to his hair. Of course, this IS my child that most acts like me and tends to try to shock us. So I think this may just be one more way for him to get a rise out of his dad & me. He's been quite obedient up to this point, so he understands that this is a definite NO!

Love the years they start showing they are old enough to make their own decisions and you can see they are doing them to be a bit on the rebellious side. That's too bad he's so stuck on this because it does take a lot of time to deal with those. He'll spend his entire summer trying to get them to a point where they even look "good". As if they ever look good. HA Then about the time he realizes it's not such a great idea he'll be graduating from high school almost bald because he doesn't want them for his graduation pictures. Ahhhhhhhh fondly remembering those rebellious years. NOT! Good luck Momma!

I'll just add my two cents here...I dated a guy in college that had dreads (i know, i know...say what you want...). At the time I thought they were pretty cool just because they were different, but I must tell you this. They stink!!! It's not just a germ issue...it's a smell issue. They smell kind of like old gym socks or a sweaty armpit. You may want to remind your son that if he wants to have and keep a girlfriend at some point, he may not want to smell like B.O. all the time. It's kind of a turn off... When he did cut them off, he pretty much had to shave his entire head, which honestly, was not a good look for him. So, while they are "kinda cool", they're also pretty gross... That's why I admire Jason Castro from a distance on TV. I don't think I'd want to get too close, at least not without a bottle of Febreze! ;)
