I need ideas on what to stitch the Dolly Mama's designs on. I have to admit I never have bought any b/c I had no clue what to do with them.
Do they take a long time to stitch?

Saw some posts about making them on Christmas stockings and inside travel cups, like the quilt in a cup idea.

I've put them on purses and tote bags. Any of the shopping ones look great on canvas shopping bags. I made a sweatshirt jacket for a girlfriend last winter. She couldn't decide which she liked best so we used 10 designs and scattered them all over the jacket, it came out great!

I put the big girl panties on the front of a long sleeved shirt and put the little pair of panties on the back right about at the nape of the neck. Turned out great!

I have put the Big Girl Panties on a tote for a co-worker, as everyone is always telling HER to put them on. :)

There's a few pictures in the projects section. I really want to put one of a shirt for myself.
They do take a while to stitch out because of the thread changes, but they are so cute.

I bought the "Big Girl Panties" design because one of my best friends says that all the time! I want to stitch it for the pocket of a tote bag for her LOL

Maybe for her birthday in April :)

I stitched one out and put it in a frame that I handpainted. I put some buttons and fun fur on the frame too, and it turned out great!

Hi Ladies! I find that the designs are so fun and cute, I make little wall-hangings out of them! I "frame" the design, which I have stitched out on a light, plain fabric, with a simple "courthouse steps" design in colors that correspond to the stiches. Then, I take a pattered fabric for the border and make iron-on patches from parts of that fabric. If you do four of these panels, sew them together and iron on the design in the center. It can be done in a day, and then is fairly easy to machine quilt and finish. I'll post pics of my x-mas one next week.

I liked the Dashing Through The Dough Dolly Mama. It would be a good one for a canvas shopping bag. My sister uses them to shop at the grocery store, and that would be a great seasonal one for her. This list is great for getting ideas!

Bar/Dish towels and canvas bags are popular for the dolla mama images. I've see a couple of them on sweatshirts too.
The red hat ladies are pretty popular too.

I made some dish towels this weekend. They turned out great. I had a problem with mine at first. I have to do half the design then the other half. Sometimes when I half it, the colors end up in the wrong order. Once I figured that out they look nice. I am going to make the big girl panties for a friend here at work. I say that to her all the time...as a joke of course

I have to buy the one that I like. I like the travel mug idea, and I already bought four of them, so it wouldn't take long.

Thanks for posting this tread! I was thinking the same thing. Although when I look at the designs I can't read the writting on all of them. I can't get them big enough. They are so cute. I love the humor. We need more of it in todays world.

I would think most anything for a woman would look cute, but spa bags, purses, and totes are really cute with them.

This thread has really helped me...I have loved Dolly Mamas from the get-go, but I just wasn't sure what to do with them. I have a new supply of ideas AND the sassy attitude necessary to pull off a few projects. Fun!!

I put them on purses that I make decorator fabrics and jeans. Can dress them up with rhinestones, etc. too.
