The other day I heard two owls really close to the house so I saw them land on a dogwood branch near our bedroom window and was able to capture a good bit of video of not one, but two owls perched together, maybe 15 feet from my face through a window. When I moved, they would turn to look at me, all the while searching for something to move and those heads, they turn all the way to the back! Now that I could use in a parking lot! They are so fascinating and I love to hear them hoot and this set came along just at the time when I'm really appreciating these lovely creatures.

I also must post to you all out there. We had a theft at our home May 19. The thief drove a 4-wheeler that had been chained and locked down w/o a key- right off from our drive. We live in a heavily wooded area, have a lake on the back and on the left. I can't tell you what this theft has done since we found evidence that someone has been sitting outside and watching us inside. I have not been able to work in my studio at all due to the time consumption of clearing limbs, cutting shrubs and trying to get 3 1/2 acres pretty cleared and then having cameras installed and other devices to add to our security system. It looks as though someone has actually been up in our attic in our garage as well and I've not slept at night, roam around all night in the dark looking out of this house that is mostly glass across the back. My ebay embroidery is empty, has been. I just can't get back into that studio. I'm feeling better by looking at this site and getting inspired and want to get back into the swing but this is going to take some pushing I think! I'm looking to feed-back from you all, I must get back into a normal life and try to get all this off my mind. I will say, this was a terrible tragedy until I spoke with a neighbor and found out she had lymphoma and was fighting for her life and then I put that into perspective but this feeling of someone watching us is insane but I'm having a lot of problem trying to sleep or even go out in the day without locking doors behind myself! Help! I need to snap myself back into a sewing granny!

Vicki!!!!!!!!! How HORRIBLE for you! I can very much relate to that sadly. I had my home broken into years ago but they didn't take anything. All they did was vandalize the entire home and empty every single thing from my kitchen all over the house including soaps, powders, any liquids such as syrups, oils etc. and then everything in our bathroom too. Then they took spray paint and painted huge words all over our walls. It was horrible.
While we didn't have anything stolen, I can very much relate to the not sleeping and the fear you are dealing with. It is VERY hard! BIG HUGS!
You are NOT bad for feeling the way you are. Even in comparison to your neighbors terrible health problems she's dealing with, you still have every right to have the feelings you do. I do NOT leave any doors unlocked, even when we are home. My husband doesn't even want me leaving to go to one of the Wal Mart stores near our home or the grocery store because both of those stores have had a very large number of purse snatchings and people being attacked. With me being disabled and parking in the handicapped spots I am surely a huge target for those types of people. A friend of ours almost lost his wife at the Wal Mart store because she didn't let go of her purse when they attempted to take hers. They had driven next to her in a van and tried grabbing it. Instead they dragged her almost 100 feet and she ended up in the hospital with a concussion and brain damage where she almost died. Then she had to have speech therapy and surgeries etc, wasn't able to work for a year and is still scared to this day, almost three years later to go to a store by herself. That is the reason I am not allowed near that store especially alone.
So no, it doesn't matter what tragedy has happened to you. When it's something that is so personal you are going to be paranoid for lack of a better word. It's normal. Slowly you will start to feel a little better and start allowing things to return to a new normal. You will never have that old "normal" you had before but you CAN move forward and get comfortable again with a NEW normal which includes you paying more attention to things around you and your home. The security things you have put in place will surely help a lot for you.
Now ~ GET THAT SEWING GOING AGAIN! :D That will help and be your therapy in returning to what is your new normal!
Big hugs!
