Self-binding receiving blankets are very popular in Utah.
I made these a few months ago and they have already
found babies to wrap up.

OK she's gotten the hint that we are all sitting here drooling and waiting for the instructions. She is not sure how to do them but is going to try. I offered her my help if she needs help pulling it all together also. Keep your fingers crossed. :D

I found directions on how to do the self-binding and I thought I posted the website so you guys could refer to it. Did it not get posted or was it removed?

I have not removed it so unless Dawn did, you forgot to post it. IF it was removed it would have been because it was another site which was selling embroidery designs. If you aren't sure, feel free to send me the link via PM and I'll take a peek if you would like.

I'm posting this again - I'm sure I deleted it vs. posting it, I do that sometimes.

For directions on how to do self binding, :D :D go to your search engine and put in "instructions self binding blanket", a site should come up called "How to prepare baby blanket trim/Expert Village Videos". Click on that. The video says baby blanket trim but when I watched it (there is a total of 4 short videos) it demonstrated the self binding method. If you go into the site this way vs. going direct to Expert Village Videos, you can view the video without signing up on the site.

This is the link to the tutorial I wrote based on some instructions I picked up at the quilt store. The ones I made are very similar to the ones pictured at the beginning of this thread. I hope it helps someone. Please let me know if the directions don't make sense.

Thank you so mcuh for sharing this! My smocking guild makes similar blankets to go with the burial gowns we make for the hospital. These will be fast and lots easier than hemming all around!

What an awesome idea. I especially like it because you can personalize before you sew and the stabilizer won't show. I know it's necessary, but sometimes it really bothers my obsessive compulsive side.
