I see in the inspiration section a baby set in a cute empty paint can. Anyone know where to buy these and are they expensive?

you can get little ones at Lowe's in the paint section. We use them to store the paint that is left over whenever we paint a room.

I may have to get some- they are too cute. I will be going to Home Depot tomorrow. Lowes is too far for me- Home Depot is 2 minutes from the house.
I'll have to post what I do with them.

Those cans would make excellent packages for bridal showers too! You could easily put in personalized lingerie and other goodies!

I am wondering how or what to do to the outside to make it nice. Any ideas?

Hot glue fabric or use wrapping paper or a combination of fabric and beads; depending on the occasion.

OHHHH wraping paper!!! Great idea. I would just have to cut it really neatly. THANKS!!! I am so excited now. I may be doing this for my sister- she asked me to get a baby gift together for her friend. Thansk!!!

You could use a paper cutter that the scrapbooker's use or how about scalloped scissors?

Where would I get scalloped scissors? Scrap book section? I do not scrap book anymore- too little time. Embroidery has taken over my free time.

You should be able to pick those up at any craft store; JoAnn; Michael's; AC Moore.

Do you think some of that pretty paper they use for scrapbooking would work? Not sure how big it would need to be, but I think it should go around one of the small size cans. I think the cans must be kind of small since a few washcloths make it look full. Must be like a quart or so

I think that the scrapbooking paper would be super! It's heavier than most wrapping paper and would stand up to the shape of the paint can nicely!

I think I am going to try this. 2 of my soldiers, well one of my soldiers and the wife of the second, just had new babies this month and I was just goign to do my standard blanket, but the washclothes in the can look so adorable and I doubt they have anything like it.

If you can put a very controlled slit in the top of the paint can, it could be used for a piggy bank after the "gift" comes out.

Awesome idea! I just know my husband has got to have some kind of tool that would do that.

Make sure you post some pictures of the completed project! Oh! How about some camoflage paper in pink or blue for wrapping the can?

I've seen a few gifts done with the paint cans wrapped in fabric, it's adorable. I keep forgetting about it until it's too late, but I'm determined to do someone's gift that way for Christmas!

Has anyone found out lately if Lowes or Home Depot carry them still?

I have seen the clean paint cans at larger craft stores like Pat Catans ( which may just be an ohio store?). You may be able to request them from a place like Michaels, or Joann's, or Hobby Lobby?

My husband came home from work last night and had a big box of paint cans with him.LOL He had 3 full of paint , to paint our bus. And 3 empty ones. The ideas were running through my head on how to use them. But he needs them to mix paint I guess.

We recieved a paint can gift last year for Christmas and she painted a snowman and some kind of winter scene on it with our name. She happens to be very crfty like that. Anyway, she had put hot cocoa and marshmallows and some chocolate covered spoons in it. You could easily do an embroidered kitchen towel to put in the can!
You could even do a kitchen theme with kitchen utensils, potholders, etc.

That sounds like a cute gift. Will need to get working on that for teacher gifts.

Thanks for sharing.
