View Full Version : I'd like to show you what else I get up to!
Just thought I'd show you another wee hobby of mine that I get up to.
I make reborn dolls, and sell them on New Zealand's major auction site.
I just adore it, keeps me busy! hehe. Although not sure what I'm going to be busier doing when the machine arrives, embroidery or reborning hehe.
I've got 2 for sale right now,

and have a website too (still a bit in the redesign stage so not everything is avaliable) but I have a gallery of dolls I've done in the past

Emma - those are amazing!!!:adore:
I wanted to reach through the computer screen and pick up those babies and nuzzle their sweet little heads. :knuddel:
I can't wait to see what you do with your embroidery machine! I bet you're going to blow our minds with new ideas. :proud:

Those look real! My two year old would have a fit to have one of those! I saw something like this at a local doll store that the owner had made herself. They were not pretty like these. They were kind of creepy looking. The hair and coloring was just plain weird. Yours have a nice soft gentle look to them, like an angel!:)
Aw thank you so much guys.
I am going to have an absolute ball creating wee outfits for each doll. I want to include a tshirt with each doll too with my nursery name on it or something like that, yet to be 100% decided.
It's just going to be sooooo much fun!

Those are just amazing! I've seen those before and would LOVE to have the extra money to buy one. They're SO cool!
You do a wonderful job at them too.

Oh my, those baby dolls are beautiful. I collect dolls. I thought my "Lee Middleton" baby doll looked real BUT yours are flawless from the pictures.
Thank you for sharing your hobby and I look forward to seeing more.
Thanks so much!
There are some reborned Lee Middleton's around. Used to be plenty before kits came into the market, now most people buy the blank kits instead of buying dolls, stripping the color, removing wigs, etc.
I am one of those people that just has to be doing something, so love reborning. I can sit in front of the TV and root hair for hours. Generally takes me 4-8 hours to do the head of hair depending on the size. The wee preemie I have listed took me 4hrs to root, and he's a 16" baby.
Incredibly I've only ever stabbed myself once too! (gee, what's the bet that jinxed me!) lol

Those are amazing. I wouldn't even have thought that something like that could be a home project.
Thank you so much ladies!
Definately a home project, you should see the mess I make! hehehehe.
I am stoked as I just had a lady contact me through my website because she saw the awake one and would like 2 similar for her nieces. She went to the trouble of searching for my website and all, that rocks!

You do the most gorgeous work! Miss Marli (my niece) may have to own one of those when she's old enough to appreciate such beauty!

How awesome Emma! Gosh pretty soon you'll have more money than you know what to do with selling them like that. Would you like to have our wish lists so you'll know where to spend all that money? I'd like a new embroidery machine if you have too much money and aren't sure what to do with it. :D
they look like real! ......... i wonder if there's any pics of them in the stage where they arrived before being reborn? that means no hairs? what about the skin tone? all handpaint too? this is a very new thing i see. because normally is see end products from the website and i thought they are just made in factory or handpaint by professional (as a living under the co)....
and ya, i also wonder what will u come up with yr Embroidery machiine hehhehehe
LOL, I am sure I can find things to do with the money. Off to another town this weekend, with a BIG craft shop, guess what I'll be doin! hehehe.
Crab, here is a link to a site of the doll before it had anything done to it.

All the skintone is hand painted, hair is placed one at a time with a needle, VERY time consuming. I've been doing it maybe 4 years now? I wish I could remember. It's just a hobby I really enjoy, I have fibromyalgia too so cant work full time, this gives me something relaxing to do on my down days..
THats very tedious, time consuming projects! I cannot imagine drawing/painting the brows because thats tough too. I might end up punching the doll or myself. :p
Just thinking about the hair implants is enough to freak me out....... but the end result is really WOW
LOL.. On every doll that I do, I say to a friend "I hate doing this, remind me again WHY I do this?" haha.
The eyebrows I used to hate doing, but I am slowly getting better at them now, which is good! It took me a while
I just done a lace coaster and i told my husband i made a big mistake. I didnt check how llong the work takes. So from 2AM, now its 4AM and I'mgoing to zzz because i didnt check how long the embroidery is going to take. And that brings me to........... WHY DO I BUY EMBROIDERY MACHINE? Oh my. Changing threads is like waste of time n my husb said that its like just changing threads and not a creative project. Feel like punching him hehehe.
