I took the plunge and purchased another machine in my quest to make the most professional children's clothing.

I read about the coverstitch machine and it's ability to do professional binding on my baby rompers and tee shirts so I went in search of a machine.

I couldn't afford the very best, top of the line machine but I did get one that is making my work look even better. I have been sewing and designing for over 20 years and I started embroidery work last year. This year it is the Coverstich machine.

I have lots to learn with this one! I tried the binding out of ribbing on my outfit but it just wasn't feeding correctly. I ended up taking the binding adapter off the machine and feeding it by hand.

Any comments on this machine (Brother 2340CV) let me know!

Is your Brother Coverstitch a serger too?
I need to research more on what is available.
Your baby romper is very professional looking.
You do a very nice job. Love, Jo

So what is the actual difference between an overlocker, and a cover stitcher??

My Brother Coverstitch machine is not a serger. I have a serger and I did not want to have convert back and forth from a coverstitch to a serge stitch.

It is nice but there are a few tricks that you have to learn in order to end stitches. You can "serge" off like a serger. You have to hold in the tension dials and pull straight back on the threads. I am still learning about it.

The coverstitch machine does not trim off the edges. It gives you a finished look like you see on panties from victoria secret where the bottom stitches are looped together.

I actually am planning on starting an itimate line called "oh, that's beautiful" in memory of my boyfriend Brian who passed away about 18 months ago.

No idea what they look like, I'm in New Zealand and we don't have victoria's secret over here lol!

Basically just underwear! they make all types from briefs to thongs! It is the finish that makes it look so professional.
If you type in brother coverstitch machine 2340CV you will get more information on the machine.

Thanks for the information, I have a serger that does coverstitch but it is a pain to change it and make sure everything is adjusted right.

That is why I purchased a separate machine. I don't have the patience to undo and redo machines. I am getting lazy after 20 years of sewing!

I just got a Janome 900 Cover Pro for Mother's day. I have not had as much time as I would have liked to play with it. Mine did not come with a binding attachment but I am thinking of getting one.

I love the way it stitches but I need some more practice...

I have a lot to learn about the binder attachment yet. I didn't succeed in my first project as it wasn't feeding correctly. I was working with a rib knit on a cotton knit.
