Walmart has good prices on their beach towels and totes...you can see each in the inspirations contest pg...the towels are not the huge size or superior quality but they are great for kids...they are like 3.88 or something less than $4...the colors are really bright and summery...they are solids with a contrasting band at each end...I made several for my kids with their names and summer fun designs and the pirate ship bugs for my sons....we have a pool so we need lots of towels! The tote is really neat I think because it has a clear vinyl protective covering over the material so everything stays nice and clean...you do have to undo one side and resew to get to the liner material to embroider on but I think it is worth it for the vinyl protection of your work...I'm thinking of getting one form myself and taking the liner out, using it for a pattern and using a really cool pieca of fabric like artsie girl uses! Monogram my name or initials on it instead of a design...will try and post when I do it...the totes are only $7.80 ish and are nice and roomy for towels, lotions, books, etc.

You are so right about the totes and towels at Walmart! This tote cost right under $8 and the towel was right under $6. I made these up for the Mom's in our family for Mother's Day this year. I put pedicure gift certificates, a really good gossip magazine, foot lotion, etc in the bag to fill it up some.
It would be cool to have a pool and have everyone's towel be personalized!
Personalizing the inexpensive totes really adds some pizazz. They never have to know your little secret.......Shhhhh.;)

Thanks all! I think we all get our inspirations from each other, even in small ways. Everything gets catalogued away until a rainy day!
This font is from Monogram Wizard Plus. it is the Stretch font. No, I don't have Embird, but have often wondered about getting it! That would just be more stuff for me to learn! I am very technically challenged.

thanks sew so happy...I was mistaken thought you had embird...know what you mean about learning another software system! Hate all the learning curves! just want to sew! I've considered mon. wizard...looking for a program that I can do more with lettering...need more choices than I have with my software...it's phaff 3-D my retailer suggested some program that you can take any font from your computer and it will convert it to embroidery but it was like $300+ ouch! I was thinking that embird will allow you to do that also and maybe for less...anyone out there know?

I love the towel and the tote, don't you just love the mongram wizard, so easy to set up a beautiful monogram, I don't think I have figured it all out yet, but everytime I use it I discover something new it will do.

formykids - you can buy embird a little less expensively from an online site (they also sell designs so I won't list them here.) However, it is still $116 with the discount. Doesn't sound too bad, but you then have to buy Font Engine for embird which is $132 (I think.) What I liked about it though is that I can use any TrueType font on my computer as embroidery, and I added on Inconizer which shows me little photos of all my designs next to their names, and then I also purchased the digitizer to learn how to turn my artwork into embroidery designs (I haven't learned how to do this well yet though! ) Obviously it's a very versatile program with many different add-ons. Basically, it is almost as expensive as the program your dealer recommended, but it's possible that it can do so much more than just letters. It can resize all of your designs, change them to different formats, organize your designs, and so many other things I don't even know about! And I'm not even paid to say all of this:p ! I do love it, but like everything else it has a learning curve. Good Luck with your decision!

thanks artsie girl...yes decisions decisions...you have a Janome machine also son't you? I was looking for a machine that not only does embroidery but sews as well....I have two other sewing machines but they aren't fancy and do only the basics...I will keep them but the machine I was looking at at my dealer is the babylock Nancy X I think designer 2 machine that sells for like 5400! It has the large embroidery field...mine now only goes to 5x7...so does yours sew larger? is your like sew so happy? I would have to find a Jamone dealer which would be farther away....just thinking and shopping my options right now....tell me about yours....

Love the idea, as always. I have Monogram Wizard Plus but don't have "stretch font". Wonder why? My version is several years old and I use it almost every day - is yours a new version?

Pam...Jessica used the stretch mono. from her mono gram wizard...I used the curlz lg. font...think about 2" I like the mono. that Jessica used...hope to be able to use one like it when I get my mono. program on Tues...I think it is the 4D Phaff software that enables you to use any truetype font from your computer like Sherri uses from her Embird software....the totes are going fast from Wal-Mart and the towels here where I am are gone!!!! Can't believe it...Just like that...tons one week the next gone!!! I'm doing the tote for myself but using another fabric lining...(the clear vinyl tote in the inspirations contest) they still have those totes and the one's that Jessica used at my local Wal-Mart but they are going fast so better hurry in before they are gone!

Lke Cindy said, it is from the Monogram Wizard Plus software. It is from the Alpha Pak # 015. You have to buy it separate. I think the Alpha Pak averages about $40 each.
