;) I'd like to see a favorites list to bookmark my favorite designs, maybe even get an e-mail when one of my favorites is on sale! I often forget where I saw the design by the time I have an idea of what to make with it! I want to shop quick, so I have more time to stitch!

I agree. I often will see something I like then forget about it later on. A favorites list helps.

Keep a notebook next to your computer and make a quick note when you see a design. I also bookmark the website by adding it to my "Favorites." Then on my notepad I just make a quick reference as to which website I saw the design.

When I make a bookmark of a site, I add to the name of the site in the bookmark. I just add a couple of words to help me remember why I bookmarked it.

When I see things I want to possibly buy later when I have the money I make a copy of the link to that page and paste that to a word document. In my sewing folder on my computer there's a file folder named "WANT TO BUY" and inside that folder are individual word documents with the website name as the title. Then as I said above the word doc. has a list of all the designs by name and link of what I want to buy. Very easy to keep track that way.

Wouldn't that be great--to get an email when the designs on your wish list are on sale? Love that one!

This would be nice, I know another CO. does this.

But Embroidables are Different. They are always on sale with the 10% store rebate and the contest going on... seems like alot!

I agree, it would be nice to have a wish list folder so that as I can purchase things, I can pull them from the wish list and add them to my shopping cart.

I'm not as organized as some of you, so there's no way I would remember which design it was that I thought I had to have. :)

:) Great News!

Jami is working on adding a favorites list! It will not be easy to design a favorites list for this website, but it is a project that Jami is working on! All this great feedback is giving Jami some good ideas to work with!

no no no,, that way I would spend more money, LOL. I am a perpetual put in cart shopper,, I go along place things there then "think" on them,, in most cases it is like window shopping I guess, LOL

the notebook would be a great idea if there wasn't 2 little girls who always needed to use it "pretend"..it must be something about a paper and pen that just mesmerizes them..and i'm jsut not that organized:)

I started using a notebook and gave up because there got to be too m any other scribbles. I changed and created a folder in My Documents for my own wish list. Inside there I have individual word documents with the website names as the file name and on the word doc is the name of the design/sets I want and a link to them with the cost. That way when I have money I can spend I can go through that first. It works pretty good for me and no kids can steal it.

You make that sound so easy, and I guess it is if you are good at computers. For me it probabley would take me longer to remember where the folder is and then actually find it LOL than if I went to the web site and searched through the designs again :)
I am not that good at keeping my computer files organized ;)

It's not hard to find or do.
On every computer there is a folder named "My Documents" provided you're using Windows anyway. I'm not sure what the folder would be named on a Mac.

Inside the "My Documents" folder create one named "Sewing"
Inside "Sewing" create a folder named "Want to buy" or "Wish List" or whatever you want that to be named.
Then just create a word document and on the word document list those designs/sets/items you want to buy along with any notes about those you want and a link to that design or set.
When you save it give that document ("file") the name of "Embroidables" (or whatever site you want it to be from) making sure it goes into the Sewing --> Wish List folderBy doing this you will find it easily. All folders are shown in alphabetical order and anything numerical will show first. To be sure my wish list folder isn't buried below all other documnets I have in my sewing folder, I actually have mine named "1_WishLists". By doing that, it will appear at the top of the list of files.

If you aren't aware how to create folders, all you need to do is:

right click an open area anywhere inside the "My Documents" folder
then click "new"
and finally click on "folder" wherever you want to have a new folder.
Next a folder will appear and next to it will be a rectangle. Inside the rectangle it will say "New Folder" but it will be highlited. Click inside that box and name it whatever you want that folder to be called.I realize you might already know how to do this but others reading this in the future may not know so I'm including that here too.

Also my Sewing folder is actually named 1Sewing so it appears at the top of the list of folders inside My Documents.

Hopefully that helps.

Thanks Chriscee ~ Thank you. I know it's something I HAD to start doing so that when I have money I can check there first instead of finding something new I found. LOL

very good point. I try to keep my own personal 'wish list' running in a my subfiles of designs. The way I do this is by saving a jpeg where it is allowed. Many sites do not allow it and I understand why....but in that case I need a wish list at the site.

I spend hours and hours surfin (cruisin) the net.

You are so well organized and know how to utilize your computer for what it was intended. I have been on computer twenty years and still some how don't link my embroidery stuff with word, works, excel, etc. Thanks for throwing the idea out there, so now a new list to start. I have paper everywhere because I usually print everything out and in a binder it goes, but now the binders are taking over my sewing room. I think I will rework my wish list binders to files on my computer as soon as I finish my organization of my designs. (Still working on that, after several thousand I wonder if I will ever sew even a 4th of them out.) Again thanks for the rescue.:five:

Thank you for the compliment. I am a very organized person and like knowing where things are. I guess that spills over into computer land a bit. I learned a long time ago things get lost on a computer very easily and taking the time to use the search function is sometimes very slow and doesn't always assure you'll find what you lost unless you know the exact name. When I start collecting embroidery designs I wanted to have them categorized by topic but, also I wanted to know where they came from too so that's why I had to come up with the way I do things. I have hundreds of websites in my favorites and still when I need something I use google or type the website name rather than to use my favorites. Totally insane to have them as nicely organized as everything else and yet to never use them. LOL I'm glad that some of my ideas are going to help you guys too. :)

Just a word of warning............Be sure to BACKUP your computer. Sometimes you learn the hard way.
