Thank you so much guys. I totally love her. Think she would be my favourite, she's just so peaceful looking.. Now cannot wait to take her away! Made a wee basket for her today, debating on embroidering part of the dessing for it, but not 100% yet so will leave it lol.

Oh, my goodness, how life like. She is beautiful. You are so talented. How long did it take you to make her? I am sure it was a labor of love.

Thanks guys. Yup she is vinyl, except for her cloth body from mid thigh and mid upper arm.

She took me, just under a week to complete, but that was working from 1-6pm daily, some nights being until 9pm, I needed her done asap to take away.

Been away on vacation this past week, so missed this one and just had to add my kudos. This is one amazing piece of work. I can't even imagine attempting it. You are a real artist, Emma. I'm off to try to find info on your website...

Well she caused rather a stir at the expo. LOL.
On the way down, she was in her basket, just thrown in the car, no care for where it was placed. I passed a car that was fine. On Friday, some ladies at the expo "oh my gosh, this was the baby that was unrestrained, we were going to call the police on you for having a baby unrestrained". Everyone was extremely taken with her.
Then while unpacking the car, she was still in the car, and an elderly lady saw her and waited for the parents to come back.

Many people got fooled all weekend, apparently she was the talk of the conference! LOL. So that's quite neat haha. She didn't sell, but a lot of people took my cards, so hopefully will get some follow up business!

I can see why they would think she was real. I've always admired those dolls. You do a fantastic job.

I have seen these dolls done by someone local and hers were nothing like yours! Hers were just plain creepy lloking and the coloring was weird. Yours look so sweet and real! I love them!

just want to say that those 'babies' are featured in a local papers the other day. the headlines is something like 'fake babies with 'real' heart that can 'beat' and there's local buyers buy from www. hehe

I've read about those dolls, and it takes a lot of time and skill!! Yours looks like some I saw on Ebay that were selling well into the hundreds of dollars, and had lots of bids, too!! Beautiful.

I can almost smell that sweet, sweet baby smell when I look at the picture of the back of her head. She is too, too adorable. You should be very proud.

I am amazed because I had never heard of these dolls before you introduced them. They look like they must be an incredible amount of work!!! May I ask what they sell for -- it really makes me curious!

Anyway regardless of the price I think they are quite unique and definitely not a craft that is sub-standard (as we have discussed recently) - your workmanship is amazing.

Totally depends really. On Ebay I've seen some go for over $10,000usd. Majority go around 700usd for what ive seen though, it depends a lot on the quality, the artists name etc. However, in NZ, they arent as well known or as popular. So we usually get around $500+nzd. Highest selling one in NZ that I can remember was $995nzd.

She is so pretty. I like how detailed her hair is and how it looks so real. Nice work!

Alright - speak in american terms for me please. I am rather dumb when it comes to dollar amounts in other countries. An average - how much are your babies?

Emma

My babies are around the $280-$300 united states dollar mark + shipping. I'm listing a wee one on our NZ auction site tonight, she's just so breathtakingly gorgeous, I love her. If she doesn't sell I'm going to be ultra brave and try Ebay *gulps*

Here is the one I put up for sale lastnight. She's already hit $270usd, and her reserve is $300, so its very close!!

I honestly think she is one of my best yet.

She is beautiful. My granddaughter wants one so bad! I am not talented in this area at all. Did you take classes or is something that is just natural for you? I spent way over $200 for a Lee Middleton doll when I only had one grandchild and she was a girl. Since then tho, we have so many I couldn't keep doing that. I think I did it just as much for myself as I did for her tho (LOL)

Emma the latest doll is just adorable. Oh do I wish I had the money to buy that one. She's just too cute.

She's just adorable, I love her, hoping she will sell, I thought there would've been more interest though in her, but I guess coming up close to Christmas etc it's just very quiet.

It varies, I see some people get them out literally in one day, but obviously the quality with that is not too crash hot. If I work every day on one, I can finish it in about a week, and that is with late nights and early mornings. Usually I try to get one done in 2-3 weeks really.

Emma

Well she sold! off the auction site, fr $520nzd, so in effect I did get the $550nzd I wanted as I would've had to pay $30 fees anyway if she sold on the site. So that's good, and she's local! Even better :o)

Congradulations Emma. I know you are excited that some one wanted something that you put so much time into. Do you name them before you sell them?

Donna

Emma

Yea I do name them, boy it gets hard finding one to suit, and one you havent used before! But then if the new owner wants to, they can change the name.

If you google reborning you will find hundreds of thousands of pages. theres so much info about it around!

Very pleased to be selling local, much easier and cheaper for me that way. I really wish I had kept track of how many I've made, must be well over 100 by now though!!

Emma, don't know if you can get it or not but these dolls are going to be on Dr. Phill this afternoon. He is going to help the group of women who believe they are real babies.

I'd be interested to see it, we can't view it here(are still having 2006 episodes i think here). But if theres a link to view it online I'd love to see it!
I'm worried that they'll paint us out to all look like total fruit loops for making them.
I do believe that some people do go overboard, taking them into town, treating them like a real baby etc. For me, once they are done, they sit in the basket where the photos have been done until it's time to send them. I don't own one etc. I think you become almost desensitized to them after a while.
Plus I have a real baby to snuggle each day anyway! LOL

Beautiful dolls on Dr. Phil, I showed my daughter (she has an 11 day old newborn) she started to cry all over again and picked up her son. Ahh post partum.

i know you posted this in June, i am new to the forum...well, not new, but just now paying attention...

anyway, this doll is amazing! amazing! i actually thought it was a real baby at first...seriously...

did you really make this? is she china? vinyl? did you buy a form or start from scratch...wait, i bet i would get the answer if i read the thread, so i will start there...

that hair is amazing...did you ever do one with that little bald spot on the back of the head that teeny tiny new babies always get from having their head on the pillow? that is always so sweet..that little bald spot.

well, your baby is amazing...i don't think i could ever part with one of those if i made one...it would be like giving birth almost.

that is such a funny story...you may have the childrens services people show up on your door step yet...maybe you should just get a car seat so folks won't worry...just think of all the fretful people out there who might still be worrying about your baby...hee hee!
