View Full Version : Anyone into making bags?
Just wondering if there's anyone into making bags? Do u have any nice books to recommend? Websites to buy those handles etc? So far I've only foudn one shop in my country selling handles. They are very limited and pricing is very steep. Just a handle is USD20 or so. I can buy a decent bag with this price. I've just bought some japanese books here and its cheaper than buying from online stores Phew! But i like to know if there's good and more simple & direct Japanese books/english books on making of bags.
Some of the english books i've found are more of using existing material(recycle) to make bags. I want to learn make a bag from scratch and possible, not much hardware required because i dont think i can find them here. Thanks!

Hi
What Country are you in? What type of bags do you want to make? There are lots of patterns on the net and Groups in Yahoo who could give you lots of advice.

I have made the Gracie bag and plan to design my own one of these days! As far as I am concerned lately, the only bags I am successful at so far are the ones under my eys!

I have started trying to make little girls purses. Does anyone know of any good patterns? something that would not be too hard, but something a little grown up looking?

I wonder in your country do they have 2nd hand stores where you can buy things others don't want any longer? There are quite a few here and many have been shopping in those stores to buy purses others don't want anymore for cheap prices. Then they cut off the handles and other things you can recycle into the new bags/purses you are making.
Also, if you are looking for new patterns in the books you are talking about there are MANY patterns online free that you can print for purses.
