Just thought I would share something that my daughter and I did. Last year we had bunches of blue jeans that the girls had outgrown lengthwise but not in the waist. I cut off the thick hem at the bottoms and added a gathered ruffle at the bottom of the jeans. I also put their monogram above the ruffle on the right leg of the jeans. Sometimes I put it on the back pocket (smaller). Then I embroidered or appliqued shirts (T-Shirts) with the same color threads as the ruffle at the bottom or used the same material at the bottom of the jeans for the applique w/their names above the designs, on the shirts. These were very big hits at school and everyone wanted some. They would provide the jeans and pick out the fabric and applique.
She started having home shows - 1 in the fall and 1 for Spring and Summer. She makes matching hairbows and flip flops to match the outfits. This year for the summer season, we started putting monograms on the backside cheek area (right side) of the bathing suit bottoms. These were definitely a hit with all the little girls.
Just a couple of ideas I thought I would share with you. People really seemed to like them. I had enough to keep me busy for quite awhile. If anyone has any ideas that they would like to share with me - please do so because I need something new for this year. They are having to wear uniforms this year but I have monogrammed their polo shirts. They have a free day on Friday's though and can wear anything they like.
Would appreciate any suggestions for grades 1-7.
Thanks- Debbie

What a cute idea, wish you had some pictures to share. I have a grandchild that has outgrown her jeans in length. I think I will borrow your idea, she to has to wear uniforms to school but what a wonderful and creative way to stretch that clothing dollar. Thanks for the idea, hope your business does well.

It's not really my business - my daughter's. I would like to share some of the pictures of the outfits (jeans & matching T-s) but some of the T's have other designs on them. I will try to get a picture of some of the jeans though. My dear hubby will have to help me so when I can stop him long enough to do that I will!!!!:D

I have taken the jeans and cut the legs off and added a gathered wide ruffle to make them skirt length and also embroidered the pockets etc. They came out really cute. I took the cutoff legs and used them to make purses and used the same material as the skirt to trim the purse for a matched set. Really a super hit with my dgd's. smokey

I also have taken really small jeans that the little ones have outgrown and cut off the legs at the crotch. I sew the crotch and line the inside to make pocketbooks for the kids. I embroider the pockets and also embroider their names on the fronts. I put designs, etc. on it. I use the leg denim to make straps for the bag. I have had so many compliments regarding those bags. The kids always love them.

When I was surfing around the board the other day, I saw where someone had posted their latest creation and part of it had a design from another place. She just used some sort of software to blur that part of the picture out. You could also take pictures of the outfits with a piece of paper over the design part that is from another place. We would LOVE to see pictures. I need more ideas for things i don't have time to get done. :o

Smokey, I would have never thought about the skirt idea. What a neat idea. I bet the purses made from the jeans were a great hit. Thanks for the idea. I Know my grands will love them.

I had actually pulled the picture and did the blurring in my software. It's very easy and most software editing programs have that capability.
