I made something for my kitchen! I was bored of what I had hanging and wanted to fill it with something new. These little wall hangings are the result. My kitchen is black and white and I wanted to add a bit of color to the design so I used the crayon techinque again. I still need to patch the holes in the wall from what was previously there (so ignore them ;) ), but was just so excited to hang these little babies!
My orignal idea with all of this turned out to be something quite different and not even kitchen worthy but it was so much fun! Below is a picture of my first attempt. I think you could easily adapt these to make cute Christmas gifts or Christmas wall hangings.

I think they are really cute. I actually REALLY like the simple outline designs.

That is a really neat idea! How are those mounted? That second picture would be cute in a little girls room. Is it mounted on canvas? Cool, Cool, cool! Something else to add to my long list!

It's a stretch canvas. I Modge Podged the fabric and design after I put it on the canvas. I can see so many possiblities with this so I hope you can find time to try it soon! ;)

Those are very good. I love them. I was wishing there were more coffee type designs to do something similar in my kitchen. Of course, by the time we ever get around to finishing the remodel in the kitchen I'll have changed my mind again for the theme I want. LOL

What is the crayon technique? What did you use to color in those designs? They turned out darling.

What I do for the crayon is this: I color the desired areas with regular crayons. Put a scrap cloth on top of the colored areas and iron. While the color is still hot, I color again which makes the color more vibrant. Iron again. HTH :)

Too cute. The technique is great. Is the crayon technique washable?

It is washable. In my experience it does fade a bit with washings though.

Thank you for giving us directions. I had never heard of coloring over it again while warm to get more vibrant colors--good tip! I saw this technique done on a quilt that turned out very well. I did wonder how it would hold up through washings, but I guess you could touch it up after awhile, too!

I stitched it on broadcloth. I think any cotton fabric would work.
