OK I have 2 posts to go, so I'm following Honeybee and thinking up questions.

What is your most treasured project?

Mine would have to be the first quilt I made. It was a twin size bedspread done in red and white teddy bear print. I entered it on a whim at our county fair. I was hoping for a third place, which would have been awesome. Instead I walked in to find that I had won Best of Show! I nearly died! :D I will never forget that moment. My wedding dress would come in a close second. :)

I made a pillow for my Aunt when she passed away. My Aunt made all my prom dresses and my wedding dress. She would make me anything that I wanted. I was supposed to show her how to embroider on her Babylock Esante but never got around to doing it!! It was one of those..."Next time I come to your house, I'll show you" things. Unfortunately she died around this time last year in a car wreck. I never made her anything coz she could sew a whole lot better than me. But I wanted her to have something from me, so I made a little pillow to put in her casket. It was white satin with an angel on it. I asked the funeral home if they would leave it with her when they closed the casket so she would always have it!! That is probably my most treasured project. (p.s. I just inherited that Esante a couple of months ago!!)

My next treasured project would have to be everything that I have made my DD. She LOVES everything I make her and thinks everytime I make something it is for her!!:)

I embroidered some onesies for Save-A-Life. It was my first project that Iwas satisfied with. The design was little feet with the words "I am a gift from God."

I treasure all my projects, but I rarely keep any for myself! Most of my projects were gifts. I think my most treasured project will be a heirloom quilt, something I can keep... If I ever get started!:o

I think one of my most treasured projects is the homecoming dress I made for my granddaughter, Shelby.

It was smocked and made by me. I put some tatting on it made by my grandmother, and some buttons from my mom's button box. Some of the lace was also from my mom's sewing things.

I dressed it on my daughter's old cabbage patch doll and wrapped it in a box for her baby shower. It was pretty special.

I guess I am not that good- I can not even think of anything that I treasure that I have made. Hummm
I tried to make a blanket for my middle child to match her blanky. She likes it and will not let anyone use it but it is not the one she uses. It's by far perfect- but it is cute.

OMG PCSews - You put tears in my eyes! What a sweet pillow to give to your Aunt.

And ShirleyC that dress is beautiful. I love the added touches you put on it, making it truly a family heirloom.

I cannot really say that I treasure anything that I have made, but I am proud of several of them. The curtains, blanket, pillowcase and dust ruffle in my DD room that all actually match. A couple of her dresses that people have commented on and the 28 personnalized Christmas stockings I made for my son's class a couple of years ago, mostly because I actually got all of them completed in time for his school party.

I would love to learn how to quilt so that I could make a few quilts that I hope my kids would treasure

Hmmm...there is the first quilt I made which I made for my nephew's first birthday but there is also a victorian styled dress made of black satin with a bustle. It was the first dress I ever made and I get lots of complements on it. I guess the dress is more special because I made it on my mother's sewing machine that I recieved after she passed away.

Most everything I make ends up going into a customers home, but every once in a while I get to make something for my family.

Two of my favorite things are quilts I made for my two boys. The quilt for my oldest son has souped up VW Beetles embroidered on 18 blocks around the quilt and then a large VW Bug appliqued in the center. At over 16,000 stitches per VW Bug, there was a lot of embroidery on that thing.

Then, for my youngest son, I made a bug jar quilt. I used lots of cute fabrics of critters that I thought a little boy might put in a jar and then the pattern called for a couple of jars to be tipped on their sides and made to look like the critters had escaped. So, for those jars, I scanned in a critter from the fabric, used my Janome customizer to make a digitized design and then embroidered the escaped critter. It's a very cute quilt. My local Janome store actually had it hanging in their store for a little while.

My favorite is probably the picture quilt I made for my parents last Christmas. It was perfect, and she loved it!

I made a quilt for my son, before he was born. He has loved it from day one and sleeps with it still every night. It was a project of love.

P3 you can post a picture of it on the non embroidery board if there is no other company embroidery design on it.
We would love to see. Its nice to see all the different styles of peoples work.

Joy - thanks for the info on posting on the non embroidery board. The designs that are on my younger sons quilt are designs that I created myself by scanning in some of the fabric I used on the quilt. I'll have to see if I can get some good shots to upload.

I would be glad to. I will have to take a photo first. It does not have embroidery on it. It is just a quilt with blue, yellow and white. I got the "pattern" for it from the Alex Anderson show that used to be on HGTV. I just saw it one day on there and thought it was so pretty I had to make one. I will try to post a photo as soon as I can. I don't normally quilt... this is one of about 3 I have ever made.
