What was your most trying project?
Mine would be a dress that I had made for a co-worker about a year ago. It was for her daughter for a church program. All the girls were to have the same pattern and same material. She had purchased a pattern that was about 2 sizes too small to start with. And the material was purchased for that smaller size. She also wanted it lined (no big issue there). I enlarged the pattern and set to work cutting it out. The dress was cut on the bias and was a wrap around style. The pieces had to be cut out one at a time. Does anyone see where I'm going here? I forgot to flip the back pattern piece before I cut out the second peice! I almost freaked out! The material apparently had been purchased months prior, out of town, and it was unlike any I had ever seen. I called a friend of mine in a panic. She doesn't sew AT ALL. She calmly said to put it away and do something else. She said you are the most creative person I know, you will figure something out. :o My friends have me on a pedestel! So I did what she told me. I put it away for a couple of days. When I took it back out I realized that the bottom of the dress pattern was almost the same, even when flipped. Small modification in the seams and it would work out. I had very minimal fabric left over. But I figured I could make the top of the dress back have a yoke. I had just enough material to do it. Of course I also had to make a yoke on the correct side. :D It worked like a dream! I was so worried I would have to tell the co-worker that her daughter would not be dressed like all the other girls. But I redeemed myself! My friend said "I told you so!" I have the best friends! :D
