I just happened to find them on a Google search yesterday and loved their stuff, but was frustrated that everything is white only! In order to get colored items, you hve to order dye packs and dye your own items. I would love to find the same items in some colors, like chocolate or baby pink! Anyone know of anywhere or that?:)
Yea it is a shame that they are all white. But still a good price.
Thanks for the website info. This is what I love about this group. The resources are fabulous!
Has anyone ordered? What is the quality?
Thanks,
Dana:D

Just got some blanks from Dharma, and they are very nice quality. For the best price, order at least 12. The best price break is at 60 pieces. They seem to have best price/quality based on my online searches.

another thing i like about dharma is her husband greg...he is so cute and funny...
seriously tho, dharma has a very very nice catalogue great for browsing, and if you are interested in learning to dye or even just play around with dye, (dying lace is fun for instance) there is a ton of good info/instruction in the catalogue...it is a nice thick catalogue, and once you get on their list, they don't waste trees bombarding you with millions of catalogues, you just get the ONE you asked for and that's it.
in addition to the dye products that dharma offers, they have some neat fabric markers and permanent fine tip markers for when your design outlines don't match up (which never happens to jami's designs, but on the rare occasion you use any other digitizer's designs, hee hee, or if you don't hoop right)
another fun product from dharma that i can personally say i enjoy is the
Shiva oil paintsticks for fabric (and other surfaces) only i did get mine from bullard designs, i like to support the embroidery world when possible.
ok, i will shut up now, this is my first post, and at this rate, i certainly won't get 100 posts before the end of the year...this post could have been 3 or 4 posts...oh well...so do you think i can make it to 100 without being too boring?

OH do I feel old now. My brother and I used to do this years ago which also means I don't recall all the details. HA
This site has great info (http://www.pburch.net/dyeing/howtotiedye.shtml)on how to do it and what to or not to do.

P.S. Not a tie dye pro but lots of vinegar was key in keeping it from bleeding later for me.

I'm not a pro but I have used the Dharma instructions to tye dye and they were very good. I called Dharma and told them what I was doing and they helped me get enough supplies and right colors for the project. They were very helpful. Tye Dyeing was easy once I got all of the stuff and figured out the process. Pillowcases would be fun!

well, andrea...you asked this almost a year ago and i am just now finding it...i guess it's bad manners to post something and then not watch it to see if someone responds...well, my bad...
i assume you are asking anyone who is into dye, but since i did post the part about dying, let me say this...
don't be afraid...AT ALL!
if you are, save your hubby's (or BF's or brother's) old white undershirt T-shirts when they get to the rag pile and try first on them, or on holey old socks...then you don't have to be afraid of ruining anything, and if you end up with something you love, then take advantage of the new reconstruction trend and sew them into some remake...worn out and tattered things can be given new life in a very cutting edge way and the tears and tatters end up being design elements...that is a no-lose proposition.
i went to a class at an embroidery show taught by cindy loseykemp (spelling???) she had several colors of dye in small containers, put some wide heavy rayon lace on a piece of foil, then dropped dye with an eyedropper (i believe it was)...also made drips and dribbles with just a plain old watercolor brush...ended up with rainbow lace...it was so easy and didn't matter at all if the colors ran together...where they ran together you got a kind of dark greyish bluish color which just made the lace look perfect for use on denim.
but to answer your question, YES, dharma does have how to instructions in thier catalogue on some of the pages for some of the products, or they did last time i looked.
one other idea if you want to try playing around with dye or any new medium for that matter; i frequent HobbyLobby (my hubby calls it Hobbly Lobbly) not only does every thing in the store end up on sale for 50% off every couple of months, year round, but they also have nice clearance shelves and end caps. you can find these clearance shelves in every department and several times each year, they have a hodge podge shelf of clearance stuff from all over the store (be careful not to buy anything marked down less that 50% though because you can always eventually find everyting in the store for 50% off on their regular weekly sales...go for the bigger markdowns if you really want to banish fear of destroying something of value)
i once found a dye kit for something like 70-80% off...ended up under 5 bucks. it had a silk scarf, a few small containers of dye, brushes and a white plastic mixing tray with little circular indentions...after making the scarf there was plenty left over and the mixing tray was something you would always need for dying purposes...it was a great way to give something new a try without much risk...i do that a lot with HobbyLobby clearance things...i just buy something totally new for me and give it a try, it's fun and there's nothing to lose.
well, now i have published a book...dont' think it will make it to the best seller list though!

WOW! Shannon! that makes me so happy that i had an idea you liked...shucks...so have you done any more dye projects in the almost year long spell that has passed since i last read this thread?
cool, thank you for thanking me about the catalogue tip...and another thank you to Emma for mentioning Dharma in the first place...it's a fun fun place with tons of cool stuff and this is a fun thread, even if it is almost a year later...i may be slow, but eventually i do get there...
i think Dharma should give us a discount for all the publicity..all two new customers they got, hee hee!

There must be a reason why this thread has been revived from a year ago. I just happened to run into a blog this past Friday with EXCELLENT instructions to do tie dyed tshirts with great pics showing exactly how to fold them to get different patterns when completed. She's done an amazing job on these so go take a peek. You will love these tuts! (http://wendolonia.com/blog/2009/08/09/tie-dye-tutorial/)
If you click the main header to go back to her home page you'll also see a woman that spends what appears to be hours making her children their lunches. I never had that kind of free time when my kids were little but these are amazing as well. WOW! Of course, much of my childrens' younger years I was also a single Mom with barely enough time to do my own hair, much less pack cute lunches like these for my kids.

Makes me feel old too... is it back once again?? (everything old is new again!)
I recall different things, the two methods we liked best were to just tie little knots and big knots randomly, once we even twisted the whole fabric after small knotting, into one huge loose knot.... Left it in the dye for 2-3 days, most interesting to say the least, the other method was twisting and secring with rubber bands, the best thing I think is to just take a small piece of fabric or 2 and try out a few methods, one packet of dye will do them all, follow the directions, and once they are dry, see which one you like the best, then do the big project ...
we did sheets, inexpensive ones, added a wide 10-12 inch border at the top (embroidered in the colour of the dye) put one layer of quilt batting and did a simple angle straight stitch to make a diamond finish, folded and stitched to the top of the sheet.... it was amazing how nice it came out ...
Not sure what those blankets are about, but if they are white and you don't like them dye them or tie dye them ..... it's as simple as pie!!

I sent you a PM for a source for the diaper covers. Can't post it here because they also sell embroidery designs. They are $4.00 each, which is the best price I have found without having to buy large quantities.

You may want to send her a private message and ask her. She knows the rules prevent her from sharing the site here which is why she said she sent the PM to the other member asking. ;) I know some are new to these message boards and are not sure how to send a PM so, if you need help sending her a PM, let me know and I'll tell you how to do that.

Welcome to Embroidables Carol. Glad to see you here. How long have you been embroidering? What machine do you have or are you one of those lucky ones with multiple machines?
