What kind of needles do you all use?
I've always used the Schmetz embroidery needles, and I've had good luck with those. I've read on other boards where a lot of people use the titanium. What is the difference?

I have Schemtz 75/11...I have no idea what the numbers mean but I have found the 11's do best on everyday materials...anything bigger (numberwise) will leave big holes in t-shirt material!
Anybody got tips on how to choose the right needle?

I use Organ titanium needles. They are supposed to last longer, but I don't have enough experience with the others to compare.

Do the Orgeon Titanium last longer than the Schmetz?

The last titanium needles I bought were on ebay. They are great and it was a good price.

I used to use mainly Organ Titanium, because they really did seem to last longer. I have a new machine now, and it calls for a different type of needle. It's a semi-industrial. I used to use Schmetz too.
Why do titanium last longer? I have heard they do, but is it worth the money?
Where can you buy needles in bulk?

I use Schmetz needles. I too wonder what needle to use for what. I did two backpacks and during the second one, my thread started to loop. Was it because I was using the wrong size needle or was the needle dull already? I too buy them in bulk. (I get lots of tips from fun2sew, she's my sister and the one who directed me to this site. Thanks fun2sew!)

Unless I missed it, I didn't see anyone answer you. There is a needle used especially for leather.
I use Klasse most of the time or else Schmetz.
Someone asked for help with which needles to use and when. There is an awesome chart here (http://www.sewing.org/files/guidelines/22_115_sewing_machine_needle_charts.pdf)that will help you tremendously. And you will find much more help on this page (http://www.sewing.org/educator/html/ed_guidelines.html)as well for sewing and fabric choice and many other topics having to do with sewing.

I use Klasse or Schmetz as well. Thank you for the link to the needle chart. I have been meaning to type one up from the small version I have but I never got around to it.

I just bought my first Klasse needles yesterday but haven't used them yet. I used Schmetz for years then started buying Organ needles in bulk from Allstitch.com.... http://tinyurl.com/3coljm
I really like the titaniums, they really do last longer. I change needles 3-4 times faster with regular needles.

I know this has nothing to do with how well a needle works, BUT you will love how easy the Klasse are to get in and out of their little cases. SOOOOOO much easier than opening the Schmetz needles.

I've been using the Titanium Organ needles and I really like them. They do last longer, plus they seem to handle the more dense designs a whole lot better.
