ETA: I found my sales flyer and yep, lots of stuff on sale for their Moonlight Madness sales through Oct 25th. If you have that flyer and haven't used the coupons, one of them expires tomorrow, the 23rd and the other is good for the 24th & 25th.

I did see all the other stuff on sale but I'm extremely limited with money now. :( I have to get the patterns and some sort of fabric for the dogs though. My son moved in with us after returning from living in FL for three years and he has two Toy Fox Terriers who are going to freeze up here and need to wear coats, not just the cover types, but actual all the way around their body type coats/clothing. The poor things have already been shivering in our back room where we don't heat and it's not been lower than 30 degrees yet. I can't imagine the poor things when it gets to be 25 below zero.
These dogs are so small that one of them is half the size of my cat. LOL

Thanks for the info. I will be in Indianapolis tomorrow. There are two great stores in the area. My husband has chemo on Thursday at IU Medical Center and if he is up to it I will stop by one of the stores for a few quick minutes. I need to be able to save money on anything that I buy and I can't wait to pick up some patterns and thread. I love the info on saving money. JoAnn's is one of my favorite stores.

WOOHOOOOOo I just got home from JoAnn's. On patterns alone I bought $176 worth of patterns for only $10.89. Then I bought remnant thicker types of fabric for making the doggies some clothing and that stuff was marked down to about $5/yd and then it was 50% off that price! I saved probably more than $250 if you priced the fabrics and patterns at regular prices rather than the remnants pricing. Just using remnant prices as they were and their sale though I saved $189. One of the fabrics only had .75/yd left so I got that for 50% off the 50% off price. YAY!

I do have bad knees BUT, I plan the fastest routes in the store so I can optimize my time before the legs start hurting. Believe it or not, the place they start hurting the most is when I stand in one place while waiting for them to cut the fabrics. I got in the store, grabbed a cart, went right to the patterns, and because I was short on time and they were so cheap, I wrote down ALL the doggie clothing patterns, apron patterns(Retro look), and some Christmas ones and then pulled them all to buy each one. I can read through them each later and figure out which ones I'll use. Then I headed to the big racks where they have the piles of remnants looking for ONLY thicker fabrics to use for the dogs and ignored all other fabrics. THAT was tough to do lemme tell you! I grabbed up about six different ones, drooled over one that would make some awesome purses (upholstery fabric) and then went to the cutting area. THEN I found they were all half price of the red marked down price and sent my son's girlfriend back to get the one I had drooled over to buy a bunch of that too since we both loved it. AND then off we went to pay and get out of there. I could have spent a lot more time there but so close to them closing I couldn't wander so it also saved money I didn't have to spend anyway by doing that.

Make that man come in with you so he can help you. :D Mine goes in with me if we stop while we're out. He even adds to the stuff I am buying so I do NOT complain ever. :D
You better get back before the pattern sale is over or you'll miss this one for the McCalls patterns. If I recall next week the Simplicity were on sale but only lowered to $1.99 which is still a good deal, just not as good. Of course, don't quote me on that since I don't have the flyer in front of me but I think I saw that. OR maybe I'm dreaming again in my old age. :p

PlayINPJs,
I live in southwestern Ohio. I have to drive 30 miles one way to go to JoAnns. I also have to drive almost an hour north or south west Indiana to go to a sewing machine repair shop. I sort of have to figure in gas when I go to JoAnn's. Whether or not it is worth it. I am also very very limited on funds, but I would love to have a pattern for a purse and for a jumper I saw on this web site (for my little grandaughters). I had knee surgery today, wonder if I could make it to JoAnn's tomorrow?

Actually, this trip no plans were made. I saw the post here about patterns being on sale and said I need to go to JoAnn's. Trust me, if it weren't for the time it took to pull the patterns out of the drawers, I could have spent much more money this trip too. LOL

Oh you poor thing. I'm totally spoiled by my husband. He has fun in the store with me and while they are cutting fabric if I can't decide if I want 1 yd or more, he just speaks up and tells them to give me 3-4yds. LOL AND if they get close to the end of the bolt, he speaks up and tells them to just give me all of it. :D Then when shopping for my serger he was there and listened to all the machines and what each could do then HE was the one that told me to get the 936 instead of the model one step lower than that.

Yea, I don't like it when they total everything myself. Sometimes it makes me all light headed and stuff so naturally we need to go across the street for Starbucks. :D May as well spend our last $10 on coffee drinks. HA

Well, I really had plans to try to get to JoAnn's but when I got up this morning I was shocked to find that I couldn't put any weight on that knee. The Dr. said the anesthetic would wear off, I thought yesterday evening "this is a piece of cake". Now I can barely get around even with crutches. I am sure I will be better tomorrow tho, but missed the sale. You guys enjoy!!! Maybe I can go next time!

Awwww that's too bad Elaine. If it's any consolation to you remember you saved yourself money. Don't forget it's only about a month until the Black Friday sale. ;) Save that money for that day. About 4 yrs ago I went to JoAnn's on Black Friday when we were in Holland, MI where we go for Thanksgiving. It was awesome! We came home with the entire back end of my van filled with fabric. My husband once again helped me pick lots out and we got roughly $750 worth of fabric for only $230 or so. I was SO excited.

Actually Debbie ~ I know he's extremely interested in Embroidery BUT, not on the user end. Being that he is in IT as a profession and also is almost to the end of a degree he's been working on at the local college and the latest classes are all very heavy into very complicated programming he LOVES playing with any and all software. He wants to buy digitizing software so he can move into that arena as well since he loves a challenge. He knew I had an interest in buying some software and took it upon himself to research some of the different ones I knew of and actually downloaded Embird and played around with that quite a lot.
I've tried to explain to him that I need to teach him to use my machine for two reasons; one that if I were to die, he would not know how to use it and two, that he really will learn more on the user end if he watches the way the quality designs stitch out because it will help when he does start to digitize a lot more when it comes to knowing why a fill goes in one direction or another and all the other details one needs to know. So far, he hasn't taken the time to learn but I'm sure at some point he will. I keep telling him he needs to buy me that next machine I'd love to have so that he can use the D1 anytime he wants to play around with it. I KNOW if we had the capability to do so that he would have bought that 2nd machine for me already but we just can't afford that right now.

Oooh... black Friday! I'm so excited for that.
So, I've only been sewing a bit over a year and last year was the first time I went to a fabric store on black Friday.
Is it really the best sale of the year for fabric, or am I better off doing other holiday shopping that day?

You can get some seriously great deals on Black Friday on fabric. It's been so long now that I went that I can't recall pricing but, I THINK the holiday fabrics were on sale for something like 80% off possibly. They have some larger things on sale too but, just like all the other stores, you must get there before a certain time in the morning. I think JoAnn's had super great deals before a certain time and then other deals up to another time and then after both of those times, they continued with other pricing for the rest of the weekend. The really great deals were really early BUT you're also lucky to get inside the store too since that's when so many others are there. If you're stubborn though and don't mind standing at the cutting table for awhile then you'll get great stuff at awesome prices.
I can tell you that year we went, we missed the super early bird specials but were in the store and in line with stuff as the time expired for the other specials for Black Friday. I was really nervous but they came around and told everyone that was in line that they'd still get the special pricing because they were in the store before the time came for the sales to end for that.
