I was looking online for Christmas crafts and found one that I had to make. Some of you may want to try it so I thought I would post it. It called for a pom pom sort of trim at the top but I had some marabou feather trim that I used instead. The photo doesn't do it justice but it's really cute. I'm not sure I can post where I got it but if anyone wants to PM me I will pass it along.

That is so cute. Yes the feather trim makes it stand out.

Cute and fun! Did it take you long to make?

They did not take long to make. The stocking body is machine sewn and then you do the laces by hand and I glued on the feather trim. What took a bit of time was waiting for the felt to dry. I used a pictogram pen and then washed it off. I got a little impatient and sewed them while they were wet.
I think I made 14 of them in just a few hours. I'm going to take them to the seniors craft fair.

Very cute Susan. Those would be really cute with a small embroidery design on the side of the skates like one of the cute little snowflakes in the sets Jami sells.
The one in this set might be too big http://www.embroidables.com/store.php?page=product&collection=118

But this one is very small and would be a very fast one to stitch out. You could use silver metallic thread for sparkle even. http://www.embroidables.com/store.php?page=product&collection=35

Good idea Vicki - I also thought of a snowflake but didn't know there were any that small on the site. I may give it a try. I also made some little mittens with the feather trim and the snowflake would certainly be cute on them as well. The metallic thread would be very pretty on white.

As always - thank you.

Have fun Susan. AND take pics of the ones using Embroidables so we can see how cute. :D

Vicki, I didn't realize there were such tiny snowflakes available either. Thanks for the idea.

That is a adorable. Did you use a paperclip for the skate blade?

Biglucyfan - yes it is a paperclip. The pattern called for a regular small paper clip that is just inserted in the seam at the bottom. If I would have had some larger paper clips I might have tried to make a bigger one but I didn't have any on hand. Anyway their petite size kind of makes it cuter.

Ladies - I found a way to display the skates and mittens that I though I would show you because so many have asked for the pattern. I like it so much that if they don't sell I may just leave them like this. I found this little stand at a large chain store.

Those are so cute. Thank You for letting me know where the pattern was. I am thinking of making these for my day care families.

Love the display and that's one thing that sells items is display. I 'm sure you will sell out of these very quickly.

You know these little things are quite satisfying. I think I made almost 30 of them in 2 afternoons. I love things that go that quickly.

Oh, my. They were cute before, but wow-- that stand makes them just look exceptional!! (You *might* want to consider pricing the whole unit to sell as is! Or at least consider taking orders for one as such. It's so terrific like that!)

I had not thought of that --- except maybe for myself. I really think if they don't sell, I'm just displaying the whole thing as is.

I love those. Such a cute idea. I bet those would be a fun school project. Are they around 3 inches. So cute!

Yes they are pretty small (about 3")- but I think that's what makes them so cute! They would be a good school project if they sewed them together by hand.

Those could be partially preassembled for kids to do as a craft at their holiday party. It would be a great craft for public schools with no religious designs (I have been scorned for that before...) I love the idea and will keep a version in mind for the party next year.
Thanks,
Shannon
