View Full Version : The New Year!
Is anyone having trouble getting started this year? It seems that I have so many projects to do, but I just can't get going! I have been trying to organize my sewing room, and after a very hectic Christmas it was a total mess! Maybe once I get my sewing room straightened out......?!?!?

Your sewing room sounds like mine! I'm trying to get motivated but it's just not happening. Maybe if my sewing room was less chaotic, I'd get more motivation...

Maybe you need the motivation that I have....my exchange students parents are coming to get her next week and they are going to be staying in my studio! I have a HUGE mess up there, so I have to get everything picked up, organized and put away. It will be interesting to see my carpet again. :p

I'm not having any luck getting motivated again either. Susan, you have a great motivator! LOL.

Well, my machine is ready to pick up from her annual exam! After a break from Christmas, I'm ready to dive in. My mom wants another tote, my friend needs pants hemmed, I have pants to hem for me, and I'd like to actually make myself something for once. I have lots of new designs I've not used yet. Some are Christmas, but some are not. I'm already getting spring fever, and we still have the worst part of winter to go!!!

I too, just had my machines serviced & cleaned. While at the shop, I saw some of the things that people had done at their classes during the holidays and also they already had some things done for spring. I have Spring Fever SO SO BAD! Of course, like you said we really just started our cold weather. If I would go ahead and get started on spring/summer stuff for the girls, I would be ahead of the game. BUT of course I am trying to get re-organized since Christmas. I need to clean out some things because my daughters want to have a yard sale. I need to get motivated to get the house back in order and then I am also chomping at the bits to get sewing. Soooooo ~ I just walk around in circles each day and get nothing done. By the time the kids come in from school, it's time to start the evening meal and there I go again - nothing accomplished. I need a "Get Started" Pill or something!!!(lol)

Yes, I am having the same problem here, too. I think just being so busy and exhausted from Christmas orders and then suddenly not having too many orders has got me feeling lazy! I want to get started, but I am having so much fun outside the house that I can't seem to get my head in to it. I have already been this week to get a pedicure, nails done and a massage today. I guess tomorrow I am going to clean out closets and get clothes ready to take to Once Upon A Child to sell. I am going up to Clarksville, TN where we used to live and visit my girlfriend. I am thinking next week I will get down to doing some work! Maybe....

I still have boxes of Christmas decorations sitting in the den and foyer waiting for dh to put them up in the attic. I am so anal - I want my house straight and clean before I dive into sewing. Because once I dive in - I don't want to have to stop!!!! We had sooo many relatives and kids come in for Christmas that everything is still strewed. I need to clean carpet, etc. When I have so many things that need to be done I just can't decide where and what to begin with first!

I have been busy stitching something out almost every day the last two weeks. Since I now have a sewing room and have plenty of room to move around I want to be in there as much as I can.I finally made my kitchen curtain panel and put the designs on it almost a year after getting the kitchen remodeled.
I plan on being in there most of this weekend. As I told my Dh, once I get a small tv in there I will never come out during the weekends.

I am like you, I had to stop sewing and look for my machine under all the fabric and thread. I knew it was time to organize. Now I can't find anything. I am a stack and hunt girl.

I just started working on the Valentine Goody Bags in the Inspiration column on Embroiderables. I had never used felt to embroidery on before and it does beautifully! I have also started shirts for Valentines Day, going to give them to my little gd's next week so they can where them a few weeks! I think the Love design would be fine on a little girls shirt anytime, don't you? I haven't gotten all my Christmas deco. down, but almost have it all stored away, maybe I will get that done this weekend. It is nice up, but I hate to take time to get it all re boxed and stored away! Boring! Am looking forward to some new projects this spring!

I got lucky, my sewing guild is doing a pillowcase project for kids going to camp and they would like members to sew cases in kids prints so I've been going through my stash and sewing pillowcases like crazy. Even found a couple of pillowcase kits from Halloween that I bought a couple years ago so made them up too, then decided to make an extra set of pillowcases for the guest room because my husband has taken to napping in there. So I have a project!!

 Famous last words from me always. That next week just never comes though for me.

Ok now just worry about the stuff you can get done and ignore the part of the cleaning that you've assigned to hubby so that way you can get back to sewing quicker. ;)

Seems laziness virus is hitting everywhere from east coast to Arabian gulf :) ( I live in Kuwait at the moment)
My machine had it's 1st annual service as well, Xmas decorations to be packed away ( oh may be this is why we're all not UP TO IT "yet", i thougt i'm the only one, as every year after Xmas I have this DOWN feeling vs all the excitement and motivation at the beginning of the Season), but am sure it will fade soon when valentines approaches with all those lil goodie bags, cards to make,,,and then Easter... and all the Spring projects.. and the cycle continue............
XOXO

Boy I am glad to see I am not alone. Have to make a baby gift this weekend-

Everything is an ongoing project at my house. The kids will finally get back in school next week and out of my way for several hours each day. Sooooo- I plan to get in my sewing room, and start picking out projects. DH got all the decorations put back in place today, so I can hurry and get some other cleaning done and come Monday - Sewing Room here I come - (if the good Lord's willing and the creek don't rise) LOL.
