Anyone know how to do names around the hole on the back of baseball caps? My reputation as my grandsons' Grammy that can make anything is ridding on me putting the ball team's names on their caps. I got volunteered by two of my grandsons when they were given their uniforms for this season. I heard them say to the other boys, "My Grammy can put our names on them, she can make anything". Well what could I say...lol

I bought fast frames at the show in Atlanta last year and the lady I bought them from said they make lettering on caps quick and easy. I sure hope so.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just used peel n stick stabilizer and put that on my Fast Frame hoop. I don't remember which one I used, but whatever seems to fit the back of the hat, where you can smooth it down the best to embroider. Line everything up, of course upside down, so it will be right side up on the hat and it took of all of a about 2-3 minutes for each hat I did. Good luck!! :)

If you want to curve it to follow the shape of the opening--I traced it, then scanned it into my program, so that I could lay the lettering out in the right curve shape, and about how high above the opening that I wanted it to be.

I also used sticky stabilizer, but just used a regular hoop, since I didn't buy the curved one. I traded for a larger plain hoop in the 7 in 1.

Got to keep that reputation intact! LOL.

Thanks for the info. My reputation is in tact.lol Almost finished all of them. They look real good and the looks on my boys faces when they saw their names made it all worth it.

Thanks again.

Aren't grandmothers wonderful. I bet they looked great, I have never seen the names on the back like that. I hope that isn't the next biggest fab. I'm not so sure I would be a skilled as you were.

I followed Idesign's instructions and did the names around the cap opening. I saw alot of caps done with the name straight across at the top of the opening. That would have been too easy.lol

Here they are.......all 16 of them.

Are you able to do that without a special frame?

They turned out great!

Thanks for the kind remarks. I did get asked but declined because I had a baby shower order I had to get out. Maybe next year.

Carlene....I did them on a fast frame but I think you could do it on a hoop if you hooped some stabilizer and just pin the cap to it.

You can use a regular hoop for this. I just finished some of these and that's what I used -- they turned out great! I used sticky stabilizer which was easier than using pins on these small caps -- (mine were t-ball size). I used my editing program to create the curved text.

Is there anyway to know how much to curve the names without making a sample?
