I just swapped in my sewing machine and an embroidery machine for a new Brothers that is supposed to do both. I had a Bernini embroidery machine and never learned to use it. Honestly I was afraid of the blasted thing. The big plus for my new machine is that it threads the needle for me. This is very important for me because I have poor eye site. I am looking forward to learning the new machine and hope I can find support here.
Thanks Mollie N:)

Welcome Mollie,
I don't have a brother machine, but I'm sure if you have any questions, someone here will answer it. Everyone is so helpful. Don't be afraid to ask questions and show pics.

Welcome Mollie! How exciting for you with your new machine. I'm sorry I can't help with specifics about your machine either. There's still a huge amount of info to learn about embroidery which isn't machine specific so we can help you with all those questions. ;)
If you want to know about something in the upper right corner is a search feature. Click on the word search and a box will open up for you to type something into. You can look for things you want to know more about, for example, stabilizers or applique etc and it will find anytime we've discussed that on this message board so you can read through things.
Hello Mollie,
I have the equivalent of the Brother machine, but mine is a Baby Lock. What model machine do you have? This is my third embroidery machine, so I'm pretty sure I can walk you through any problems you may encounter. If not, I know people to ask. About a year a half ago, my husband and son surprised me with a new super-duper model. Oh my -- if I don't get to embroidery five days a week, I exhibit signs of withdrawal. :-) Just let us know what you are working on and we can help. Once you figure it out, you, too, will be amazed that anything could be so much fun.

Thanks all. I am sure that I will have questions from time to time and it is nice to know that there is someone out there to give me a hand.
My husband has one project in mind. He would like to find someone that has the Methodist Cross and Flame that is in the pes. format. Also if you know of anyone that would do the conversion from the current file extension.

As a rule, if a design is hard to find there is a reason. Most logo's will be protected and cannot be reproduced.

MollieN,
Welcome to the board. We're glad to have you here. I think that you will find that everyone is really friendly and helpful.
Since the Methodist Cross is protected by copyright law, be sure that you first get permission from the Methodist church before using it. They probably won't have a problem with it as long as you aren't using it in a way that they wouldn't approve of, but even so, you will need to get permission first.

Take the lessons with the machine, I don't care how many embroidery machines you may have had they are all different and the lessons will teach you so much more than you can imagine and the things you learn from other are wonderful..
