My name is Jessica. I live here in North Alabama, west of Huntsville. I am a stay at home mom of three and have just started embroidery in June. I do it to make a little extra money. There is definitely no going back now! I have a Janome 350e.
I enjoy just seeing other people's designs and seeing the ideas on this website. It sure does spark the imagination.
It is also neat seeing where everyone is from and hearing about you. I am from Va Beach,Va and my Dad's family is from New Hampshire. We have moved around alot.
Hope to get to know everyone on here and maybe learn alot from you embroidery veterans!
Take care,
Jess

Thanks for introducing yourself. I know you'll love it here and I can already tell from the feel of the threads/posts that this is definitely a place where you'll make lots of good friends and get great embroidery advice! In no time at all, you'll be an embroidery veteran. How old are you three little ones? I have three little boys (7, 4 1/2, and 14 mo.).
Glad you're here!!

Hey Jess! I live in Virginia Beach...born and raised. What school did you graduate from? I'm sure I'm older as my two boys are 26 and 23. However, I was a child bride...jj!

Hey all!
I have a 10 year old boy, 5 year old boy and an 18 month old girl. She really keeps me busy. She is getting ready to start two day a week Mom's Day out so I can get some work done and get some of these orders completed. I have to stay up until late some nights to keep up with my house and embroidery!
To Debi-
I went to Green Run High School and Princess Anne Junior High. I would have graduated in 1989, but my step dad was Navy and transferred in Feb to Long Island, NY. I had to go one more year there and we moved again to south Illinois when he got out of the Navy. That would be where I graduated in 1990, Edwardsville, Ill.....whewww. My mom still lives there in Va Beach, along with a couple of my brothers. I really don't miss it too much. I have gotten used to the small town life of Killen, Alabama.
To Jami-
The candy cane font is awesome! I have been doing some kids pillowcases for Christmas and they sell like hotcakes! Thanks so much for putting out such beautiful designs.

SewAmy, we are neighbors! Maybe we can get together and attend some workshops around this area. I'm new to embroidery and haven't really found anything great down this way. I was in Richmond just last month and went to the Bernina store and had a great time and also to, I believe, it was All Brands. They seemed to have right many classes there. I have a Brother Innovis 4000LTD.

Jess~ I went to John B. Dey and Cox High School. Don't you love that candy cane font?!?!?!? I Love it! Do you do all the letters of the children's names in the that font or just the first one and then the rest in a simpler font?

Hi Debi,
I have been using the first letter of the child's name in the candy cane and the Tipsy font in Monogram Wizard Alphapack #12. I use the Tipsy in alot of kids stuff. I am planning on using the candy cane for dishtowels for the family when they come at Thanksgiving. We always do a little something for each other to get excited about the upcoming holidays. It is always fun to see what everyone has come up with.
I have only had my machine since June, so the towels will be a surprise for everyone.

Ok, I googled it and saw them. They are wonderful. I have another question. ( And I am sorry for all the questions.) Will they work with any machine? I have a Viking Design 1. Would the program work them that? Thank you for helping me out. Amy

Hi everyone! I am Lisa and live in N. GA. I am a stay at home mom of a 2 1/2 year old boy and expecting another boy between now and Christmas. I have had an embroidery machine since 1994, but have just gotten "serious" about embroidery since I bought my D1 right after the first son was born.
I just love see projects and ideas others have, so give me some inspiration girls!
Glad to meet you all and I know we will become good friends.

Hi All,
I live on the West Coast of FL, actually born & raised here, married for 32 1/2 years with 2 grown sons and 2 persian cats. I embroider as a hobby and 2 years ago remodeled the house converting a bedroom into a sewing/craft room.
I mostly enjoy doing gifts with my Babylock ESe2, but have done some digitizing as well because I like doing things on the computer as much as I do my machine! I love the groups because everyone is a source of inspiration.
I'd love to know what things are being made as Holiday Gifts and what you've made that got the most oohs and aahs.

Hi Sew So Happy!
I love the candy cane font also. I've been making handtowels for Christmas gifts and they are gorgeous. I only used the candy cane for the first letter also and used a dots font for the other letters. It looks really cute. I'll have to go look at Tipsy so I'll have something different to use!

Hey Starsite! ~ Although I live in Michigan, we have a lot in common. We've been married 33 years in October, we have two grown children. A daughter, 21, who will be moving to NYC when she graduates from college in May, and a son, 26, who will be getting married on New Year's Eve in Vermont to a girl from Idaho. They live in Virginia now but are moving to Switzerland in June. We're trying to cover all 50 states and beyond! DH and I have lived in MI all our lives. We also have two Persian cats (Ashleigh, 17 and her daughter, Belle, 15).
I just got my first embroidery machine in August, but I've sewn for many, many years. I have commercial machines since I do a lot of custom home furnishing sewing - window treatments, pillows, etc. I got the embroidery machine so I can customize as an added service.

Hi Ellen in MI - Thanks for the reply & congratulations on your upcoming 33rd Wedding Anniversary. My youngest son 24 in Jan will finish his BS degree in May and will most likely move home for the next few years as he wants to become a Dr of Oriental Medicine and one of the best colleges is in our town. Good thing I only converted one bedroom:D
Our oldest son is 26 1/2 and is a photographer & personal chef in Orlando. Neither are married, so I am jealous of your upcoming wedding - although Switzwerland is a long way from home it will be a great place to visit & the skiing will be amazing!
Our persians are 1 1/2, they share a father and were born within 24 hrs of one another. Our girl is red (Brandi) and petite, our male is a chocolate Tabby (Rocky Road) & huge. We've had persians all our married years and just lost our 18 yr old & 14 yr old 2 yrs ago while we were remodeling - broke our hearts as you can imagine.
I bet your son & DIL will keep you those machines busy with lots of projects for the newlyweds.
Thanks again for sharing.

Actually, we just celebrated our 33rd in October. I was a child bride :D . Our Persians are charcoal and silver. I had no idea Persians came in so many colors! Our son will become a doctor (Phd) in May as will our soon-to-be DIL. Who knew Ghostbusters, Smurfs and Transformers would lead to nanogeotechnology?
