I recently bought some Gerber cloth diapers so that I could practice making some burp cloths, but I don't really like the quality. To me it seems like they are thin and scratchy (I actually compared it to cheese cloth, lol). A friend of mine suggested the site www.alltogetherdiapers.com, except that I don't know if I will be accepted for a wholesale account or not. So, that leaves me to ask, where can I find soft, quality cloth diapers that embroider well at a decent price?

They have really nice ones, and they will even send you a free sample to try before buying. A real ++++
I am trying to figure out the same thing. I read other posts to buy the Gerber pre-fold at Target or Walmart. The one I saw were 12 for about $11 or so, but seemed very thin and rough. The thicker ones were 12 for almost $17. Are the thicker diapers the one I should choose? Or if someone could tell me the exact brand and name that works for them. Just a little anxious to try these out!! Thanks

I use the Gerber 6-ply diapers that you can find at Target or WalMart. Yes, they are more expensive than the others but they are very absorbant! Just a hint, pre-wash the diapers before you put any embroidery or trim on them as they will shrink in size. (I found that out the hard way!)
Thanks for the response. Off to Target!!!!

I also use the thicker ones from Target and Walmart. I love the ones from Stiched and Stamped, but I couldn't justify the shipping at this time. I agree, wash and dry them first. I also learned the hard way.

I have started making burp cloths for my new grandson that is due, June 1st. I am so happy that I read these posts about the pre-folded diapers. I wouldn't have thought about washing the cloth diapers first, but it makes sense. Cloth always has a tendency to shrink and come to think of it when I used them on my boys 30+ years ago they did shrink up.
Thanks for the great post.

Definitly you want to prewash the diapers Trish. Nothing is more frustrating than to spend all that time and money making any project only to see it shrink and get all distorted the first time it's washed. Given the amount of washing baby things get, you want to make sure the diapers are not going to shrink any more after you've created such an adorable item.
I know many don't but I have always washed mine in hot water and dry them on high and then I take the time to iron them before embroidering as well. Ironing them makes sure there are no wrinkles anywhere I embroider because embroidering over any wrinkles means they will be there forever. You just can't go back to iron them out afterward so I'd rather take the extra time to iron first.
I also buy mine from Target. I made the mistake one time (and am still living with that mistake) of thinking I could buy diaper fabric and make my own. BAD idea since the fabric is exactly as the first post here said, it looks more like thin cheesecloth type fabric. I now have tons of this fabric since I had grand plans of making a lot of burp cloths for my Granddaughter.
