Is there bobbin thread available to purchase other than in the color white?

I saw some on Ebay, not sure what is quality or not. Some of these more experienced embroiderers would probably know.

Marie at My Embroidery Haven sells a polyester 60 wt thread very reasonably that I use for Bobbin thread...But the cone of marathon white that I have is the best bargain I have come across...I must have purchased it at least 2 years ago,,it must have at least 20,000 yards on it...Sew not knowing exactly how much that was I ordered 2 of them...I haven't even made a dent in the first cone...

These threads are good also for FSL,,,gives it an old fashioned look...

I will use my embroidery thread in my bobbin when I don't have the color I need. Saves me from running to town just for 1 spool of thread. I have never had any problems with the embroidery thread as bobbin thread...

Wow! You must have to deal with a HUGE amount of lint! I made crochet snowflake squares last year on my embroidery machine using the Maxi-lock serger thread to give the old fashioned look of hand crochet for the squares as they were being made into a table runner. The lint was tremendously bad. After each square I had to clean the bobbin area completely for about five minutes. I had to make 48 of the squares that were about 5 inches each. I swore I'd never use that again because of the amount of lint.

I use my embroidery thread alot to match top and bottom of things and for sure when doing FSL. I change the bobbin with each color change of the design I'm doing. It works great.

Do the pre-wound cardboard bobbins work well as bobbin thread? Does anyone know?

yes, they are the same bobbin thread. I use them in my pfaff - just tear off the cardboard before inserting into the bobbin case so the bobbin indicator will still work

this is almost all i use. so easy and hate to use up my nice colors. fixed income... "fixed" doesn't necessarily mean "adequate!" :)

I was told Janome used different type of bobbin holder? (I'm not sure if u called that holder or case or whatever.......)

when people talks about bobbin threads, does it mean bobbin case + threads? or one type of thread thats for bobbin (and for embroidery)? I'm very new to sewing/embroidery so pls forgive me if my qn seem silly. Thanks!

well most machines Crab, (speaking from my sewing experience too) will have the bobbin itsef which is the one with the 2 flat edges with the cylinder in the center.

Then there is what you call the bobbin case(or what *I* call the bobbin case anyway hah). That is the bit where the bobbin sits into the machine, and will be where the thread is drawn up from.

You can buy prewound bobbins(definately something I'm looking into. there is around 3x more thread on a pre wound bobbin, than on one you wind at home! And I am sick of winding bobbins LOL.

And yes, I think Janome do use a different type of bobbin. Ok I've just had a google, and Janome takes "A" type bobbins. So if you look for bobbins online, there is generally an "A" and a "L" type, yours will be the "A"

I use finishing touch as it gives the best results that I have found for my babylock...that is what babylock recommends...bought a spool of maderia poly bobbin thread but it just didn't work as well...bobbin thread rising up..not as clean and crisp a look as finishing touch...anyway..it isnt cheap :( need to find a cheaper source to buy from anyone know of where I can get it on-line for less?
