Hi everyone,

I took a little time out of doing alteration today to do some embroiderying. I wish i could show you what i did but i will tell you. I embroidered a design on a hat for my husband and also put a design on a bag that can be used at the beach. I am going to put it in my daughter's nail salon to see if i can sell it.

After i finished the hat ,i called the dealer where i bought my emore embroidery machine and ordered a cap hoop. It suppose to fit inside the regular hoop. I hope it works. I also have a Bernina embroidery machine. Both of them just do embroidery.

How exactly does a cap hoop work? Without a cap hoop, would you have to undo the stitching on a cap to embroider it?

I am not quite sure how the cap hoop works. When i get it will post how it works.

Without the cap hoop, on the inside of the cap i used an iron on stablizer.
Then i used sticky-+ in the hoop and tried to lay the front of the cap as smooth as i could. I had to becareful that it didn't catch the band on the inside. I could e-mail you a picture if you like.

I would love to see how that works. My DH owns his own business and a long time ago he mentioned getting hats. I figured now that I have an embroidery/sewing machine I could make them, but I have no idea how to do it, lol.

My Janome has a hat hoop where the insert goes into the regular B hoop. It covers up about a third of the hoop, and has little screws that hold down the bill. You have to use sticky stabilizer to get the cloth part of the hat down. It is a little tricky, as you don't want your design to hit the plastic. EEk!

I also have a semi industrial 6 thread, and that has a "real" cap hoop. The cap is placed "in the round" into the hoop, so you can have a line of text, and it will be parallel to the edge of the cap--something you can't do with a home machine.

It seems all the men want caps, first thing, so I think it is a good thing to have.

Vicki - Will our machine do caps with a cap hoop? I have seen them at a sewing shop in with the Viking Supplies.

Vicki - Will our machine do caps with a cap hoop? I have seen them at a sewing shop in with the Viking Supplies.

They are supposed to BUT, last year I had gone to my Viking store to ask the manager there about the cap hoop because I was going to buy one. She told me they had discontinued that hoop and she was not able to order them any longer. Why they discontinued it OR if she was possibly wrong in that information, I have no idea. She told me the hoop didn't work very well though and that was probably the reason they had dicsontued that item.

She told me to hoop sticky stabilizer without removing the top paper. Once hooped she told me to take a pin and score a big X in the center to remove the paper to open up the sticky area that way so the hoop wasn't going to get the sticky residue on it. Then she said to turn the hat inside out and flatten it down, and then place the outside area of the hat you want to embroider down onto the sticky area while pinning other areas out of the way. I have not done one yet but she said this works very well for her.

Hi to everyone that is interested in the cap hoop. I just picked up my cap hoop last night. I have a babylock emore. You take the outer hoop and place the hoopster on the opposite end of the screw. Place sticky stabilzer on the hoopster. Then you place the bill part in the front and screw that down. The part that is going to be embriodered you you smooth out onto the sticky stablizer then put a cut away under the outer hoop and that is it.
I just buy 4 hats so i am excited to use it. Will let you know how it works.
