I have been asked to create this tutorial and rather than to just email it to that one person I figured I'd upload it here. There might be others who are not sure how to create a new thread and it could be stopping them from posting. We all want to be sure to give as much help to all our members so they can have fun here too.

The above screen shot is taken from the message board. The different forums on the site are all pretty much the same although, some may have sub-forums at the top. When you get to the forum in which you want to create a new thread you would click on the button I’ve circle around in the above picture. Click on that button, “New Topic” to create a new thread.

The screen shot below shows the top of the page which will come up after clicking on the “New Topic” button.

You will need to give your new thread a title. It’s best to give it a name which will help anyone reading the forums some idea as to the subject of your thread. For example, if you want your new thread about stabilizers then the title would more apt to get a response if the title were something similar to “What type stabilizer for towels?” rather than something that gives one reading no idea of the subject in that thread such as giving the title name as only “Help”. (If you create the thread and after realize you spelled a word wrong or want the entire thing changed you can always send a private message to one of the moderators, Vicki/StitchinGrandma or Dawn/Fun2Sew and we can edit for you)

Once you’ve given the thread a title, skip down to the open box and type your message.

After you are happy with the message you’ve created, you will need to click on the button at the bottom of the box, “Submit New Thread”. After doing that your new thread will have been created and you’re all set. If you would prefer to double-check your new thread before actually creating it you can click on “Preview Post” instead of “Submit New Thread”. Doing the preview will bring up a new page showing exactly what it will look like. *Important* If you do the preview you will need to remember to click on “Submit New Thread” afterward or it will not show up. Previewing does not create your thread so be sure once you’ve previewed to click “Submit New Thread”.

Thanks Jami. :D I hope it's easily understood by everyone. If this helps someone who is too shy to ask and doesn't know how realize it's very easy. And since we LOVE seeing new members anything to make it easier for them to understand how to use the message board is a good thing.

Yes, you are definitely right, Vicki. In fact, I've already pointed a person to this thread because they emailed us wanting to start a new thread, but wasn't sure how. Great work again, Vicki.
