My Janome 10000 has finally said I need a rest so my husband & I researched every machine on the market and as much as I loved my Janome 10000 I decided to get the Bernina 730E and absolutely love it. I do a lot of embroidery and sometimes need to alter designs larger or smaller and with the recalculation system they have it is a breeze. I took a sunflower that was 6 x10 and made it down to 2.5 x 4 and put it on a towel and their was no problem. What a wonderful machine. It has so many other great qualities. Sam

Hello Sam,
I have an older model Bernina-Artista 170. Guess what? It is also so wonderful, I can't imagine justifying buying another one. I only do embroidery for fun, not for an extra income, so I just couldn't justify it, but I wanted to tell you, mine is a 2000 or 01 model, I bought it used from a Bernina dealer. The woman who traded it in bought the next year model, so it was barely used. It also has the recalculation system you are talking about. It is as you said "a breeze" to enlarge or shrink a design. I asked the dealer I purchased it from about which should I do, buy the newest model(not the most expensive one) or this used one, she said "this used one" because it does a 9 mill. satin stitch with a reg. foot. I LOVE the quality of the machine, but I know that so many of the brands now are really good. It also came with 3 hoops, the largest being about 7x9". I know they keep adding more and more wonderful things that they do, I just can't think about it! But enjoy! I know you will!

Sam,

My first embroidery machine was a Bernina 165E. I purchased the Bernina embroidery software along with it; at that time (nearly 6 years ago) it was a big $ purchase, but I have been so happy with it. The Bernina machine is amazingly easy to operate and you get great results from it. I know you will be happy with your new machine. Mine is still going strong, although I have a Brother 620 that is now my primary machine. Enjoy!
