A friend of mine wants me to make a baby blanket with that crinkly material in the middle. What kind of material would I be able to use so that it makes the noise babies love but is still washable?????
I've often wondered this too, because I LOVE that noise. People have said plastic bags, but that's not the same noise. I'll be watching this with interest.
Well what do ya know! I googled, and some people say cellophane. I'd believe that, as that's about the same noise. But apparently you can't put it in the dryer.

Hmmm...Can you wash the cellophane? I would think it would tear when sewing too.

I have seen many are using the bags inside cereal boxes which are a plastic type noisy material. They said they will go through the wash but not to put on high heat into a dryer. The notes I saved say they washed the cereal bags and then layered two of those with batting.
Others mentioned using the mylar cellophane paper used to wrap gift baskets.
Another said they used tortilla chip bags and that those stayed noisy the longest for her but to be sure and wash the oil and salt from the inside of the bags first.
Another great idea but, this was for dogs, was to take a water bottle, throwing the cap away and sew that inside a thick golf club cover stitching the top or sewing velcro if you wanted to replace the bottle after that was chewed. My note ~ I wouldn't waste my time with the velcro after having my sons two dogs living here for awhile last Fall and this Spring. Once they got to the inside of the toy, the outside was pretty much trash since they shredded that in a matter of about five minutes to get to the inside and then they shredded the squeakers too. LOL But the water bottle was a good idea as long as you keep an eye on the dog if he/she is a real chewer like my son's dogs so they can't shred the plastic and ingest any of that.

I had found someone online selling crinkle material too but all she was selling was the same stuff you can buy in a regular store for much more money which was the different colored cellophane you wrap gift baskets in.
If this place you found is selling the same stuff you're much better off to go buy it in the stores because you'll spend less money and get a lot more. :D
