Hi Jami,
I read the new rules for the contest, and wondered if we can still use lettering from another program? Also, you said it is open to all, so does that mean if we won a prize in the last one, that we can still post an entry into the new one, since it is no longer a monthly contest?
I love the inspiration I get from looking at all the entries!

I can answer part of this for you Carol. Yes, you can enter the current contest even if you won the previous one. :D

i'm really excited about the new contest and i have several ideas, but life has just been so hairy lately...my daughter's home was burglarized and now we are being victimized a second time around by the insurance company...but i dont' want to be a downer, this is a HAP HAP HAPPY thread and i am excited about the contest...
even if i don't get to enter anything this first time around, i am still very excited to see what everyone else is going to do. and WHEN??? where are all the contestants? my voting finger is getting itchy!
is anyone working on an entry yet? i have an idea, but it is on fleece, and the design i want to use is too dense i fear...what are the parameters on design editing...maybe that is discussed somewhere already on the forum, but i'm kind of new here...if there is such a discussion, could someone direct me to it?

How horrible aboaut the thefts. Not fun at all to deal with that stuff.
Anyway, keep in mind that there is a search feature at the top of the page. Just click that and enter the words you are wanting to find and it will bring up all instances of that if there is something. In this case I did a search for "changing designs". You could also use copyright or editing designs etc. and read through some of the threads that search brings up.
Here is one which (http://www.embroidables.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2603&highlight=changing+designs)I found by doing the search myself that, I think will answer you. I suspect however, that you are wanting to do editing of the design as far as density and not the wording but, I don't think that is something you want to do either and you are best to address that directly with Jami. You can click at the top of the page to contact her and ask for her to verify this and/or help you with the edits you hope to have done.

OOh we have our first entry in the new contest thread and it's absolutely beautiful. Go check it out if you haven't yet.
Great job "Q4K" ~ you'll have to let us know your name so we don't end up calling you Q. :)

yup! Vicki! it's a bummer, i really thought i would be over it by now, still makes me cry, still can't get the insurance company to pay and had to get a lawyer this week...i'm dreading Christmas. They got EVERY ornament i bought Amber since she was a baby...my goal was for her to have a full tree by the time she got married and had her own tree...my first tree was empty and ugly, so i vowed my child would have a full tree on her first Christmas...she did, and it was beautiful...she got to use them ONE time!!!
i bought one or two extra special ornaments every year (and i still do) since her first Christmas...and the ornaments always stood for something that had happened during that year, like the most significant or memorable thing of the year...so they were special, and all the wooden ornaments my dad made and my mom painted for her, (darling sugar cookie cutter ornaments from each year of her life and little homemade wooden train, trucks etc)...at the age of 30, she had quite a collection...i begged them to give them back...said i would just forget everythign else if they would give them back, but no luck...and they were all packed neatly in rubbermade ornament boxes, archival almost... :( (rollercoaster of emotions)
i don't know how i am going to stand Christmas this year...i must be creative to do so, i can't bear to think of those people (we know who did it) using her ornaments that i so lovingly collected even during the years when we were so so broke. i am having a hard time keeping my chin up...probably why i am up at 4:20 am after not sleeping a wink and posting silly posts on the Embroidables forum all night! heavy sigh! no, torrents of tears...
well, (i'm going to have to take this to the non-embroidery thread if i don't shut up) on to happier subjects....regarding this...
I suspect however, that you are wanting to do editing of the design as far as density and not the wording but, I don't think that is something you want to do either and you are best to address that directly with Jami. You can click at the top of the page to contact her and ask for her to verify this and/or help you with the edits you hope to have done.
well, this one idea isn't my fleece idea with the density deal, for that i was thinking i could just leave out some of the colors, you know, just skipping the solid parts and use mostly the outline, i "invisibled" out some of the colors in my software to see how it would look and it was just so darling, but that is probably the kind of thing that is not allowed and i don't even want to ask, too scarey, even though, i think i probably just asked actually...believe me, my idea is super super cute.
darned this creative mind of mine that is always stacking up ideas in my mind and keeping me awake at night...but it is a good way to foget about things like those turkeys who have a life-time of Amber's Christmas ornaments they just "thieved" away from her...yup, that's the kind of thing embroidery helps me do....it's a miracle i haven't bought every design on the website trying to drown my sorrow...LOL cue the violins!:bawling:
but, so cool is my other idea that i think would also maybe be considered kind of an edit, but i really hope would be ok, is this.... i was thinking the spider...the one that is hanging on the web in the new halloween set, would be so TDF cute used all alone as a polka dot all over something, say a little skirt for a little girl i know who LOVES polkadots..., then on the t-shirt to go with it, you could have the web and the spider hanging down....and i have some black spider web tulle which i was thinking of using to make one of those ruffles under the skirt that looks like your petticoat is showing, or maybe making a ruffle from the tulle to use for trim on the top/t-shirt...i may just have to create my own spider and web, but i love the way jami's stuff looks...
oh and on the spider, (i am not sure how this part of my idea would look yet because i haven't even bought the design yet), but the tulle i have, has sparkles all through it and i thought on some of the spiders, not all, but some, i would put tiny swaroski crystals in the eyes...ooooooo, maybe even mean green, or scarey red...but i was thinking more of just the plain old rinestone like color...especially on the main spider and web on the shirt...
and then i was thinking, just so the spider web part of the design didn't get it's feelings hurt for being left out, wouldn't it be darling tucked in the corner of a crazy quilt as the designated spider web. that spider web has more personality than any other spider web i have ever seen and would be a PERFECT crazy quilt spider web (coincidentally, we have our first inspirations entry in the new constest which is actually a CRAZY QUILT...
Q4K, Kim, did you put a spider web on your quilt? i LOVE crazy quilts.
well, i am so darned busy in my mind, i am constantly thinking of stuff i want to do, but i don't always get around to it, so i may never need to ask permission anyway....besides, it's too scarey.
well, i'm going to really try to go to sleep now that the sun is about to come up...maybe i need some ice cream first...i think ice cream cures everything...
*moderator note* just wanted to note that you may see an edit done by me. I just added a left bracket in one spot where you had quoted but neglected the bracket so it wasn't showing as a quote.

where'd my post go? did it "fly away"...Kim, i just posted some sticky sweet goey stuff about how wonderful your "fly away" quilt is, but now i can't find it anywhere...maybe it got stuck in the submit process because it as too sticky sweet...i do really LOVE your quilt tho!!!
the only problem is that no one else is going to want to enter now because you have already aced the contest!
here's my idea...Jami, go ahead and give Kim (Q4D) the prize and start a new contest! (joking of course) but who wants to even try to beat a charity quilt...and a precious one at that...
Kim, your quilt is :willy: BEEEEEEEEautiful! so happy and bright!!!! and everyone will soon be "buzzing" about how darling it is!

Sometimes when a post isn't showing up the reason for that could be that it got caught somehow by the filters and it was put into moderator status waiting for us to approve. Every once in awhile that happens to even good posts, not just the spammers.
Normally I will check those as soon as I get up, however today I am not doing that because I have a VERY strong suspicion that I've picked up a virus somewhere which appears to be some type of hijack virus so I'm afraid to go into anything which requires me putting in my password. I do not want to have any chance that something could be on my computer and will catch my password/s so until hubby, my personal IT guru gets up and checks this mess out today I am not doing anything requiring my passwords. I'll send a note to Dawn and/or Jami to please check when they get on here to see if it's stuck there for some reason.
ETA: I definitely do have a virus so I'm now using my laptop instead. UGH
Anyway, I just got into the admin area where the posts which get stuck are held up and you do not have anything in there so perhaps you forgot to hit save? Sorry. I had hoped it would be there.

oh, look at the edit line, that is so funny, vicki, since you edited and added the bracket for me, now the edit line looks like you were the last edit and that the reason was "added title to warn people about how long and boring the post was" that is so darned funny...that'll keep anyone from ever posting a long boring message if they think the moderators flag the boring messages, that is just so funny...

Emma,
The a-line dress is adorable! I wish I had a little girl to sew for...I did alot of sewing when my niece was younger...too bad I didn't have an embroidery machine then!

The a -line dress is adorable. My girls are all grown up and my granddaughter is 14. When my granddaughter was little i made her an a-line dress and i still have it. I put a little design on the front that i bought because i too did not have an embroidery machine.

Well. Well. Well. Entering the contest at this point wouldn't be worth it! That quilt is beautiful! I also love the Halloween wall hanging as well. I only made one quilt in my time and that was a Christmas tree skirt. I made it 20 years ago and were still using it. Although it's pretty flat now and worn out looking. If I only had the time to made another!

Why would you say that? Anyone can win the contest. There have been a lot of times things being talked about in the discussion thread for the current contest wasn't the one that won so you have nothing to lose by trying. ;)

No pattern, I bought a cup sleeve from a gal at a quilt show several years ago
and modified it. It's a 12"x4" rectangle, I embroider on one side before putting it together, I add a piece of lightwt. batting in the middle. I put 2 strips of 3/4"x3" velcro side-by-side on the ends to accommodate different widths of cups.

Dawn ~ That jacket is gorgeous. Did you make the entire jacket? I think you would take away from the simplicity of the design you have if you did any more stitching on the collar. I think you should leave it as is.

The Pattern calls for a blanket stitch around the Sleeve cuffs and down the front... not around the coller. .... Yes I made the entire Jacket.... and thanks, I am glad you like it!
