The forum/message board will be great for me; many times I feel removed from the machine embroidery world because my friends aren't into it and I live quite away from fabric stores that feature it.

I also want to add that I think your website is great with the changeable thread lists. My threads are many different brands and this way I can see what the color numbers are without having to do a lot of guesswork to get the best color for the design.

I posted once before but didn't introduce myself. I wanted to tell everyone about a new little venture my friend and I are doing. We've created a small business called "Cootiepies". You ask, What? Well, it came from her nickname when she was little. Her brother called her "Coot". We have worked together for 21 years and they call me "Pie". Hence--Cootiepies! We make children's jumpers, rompers, burp pads, houseware items, etc. that are embroidered or monogrammed and love coming up with new ideas. This site is certainly inspiration for us and the new Dolly Mama Christmas designs will be a for sure hit for us!
We both are married and have grown children and are getting "Closer" to retirement. This side business for us sustains our need to create and nuture!

I am a huge fan of Embroidables. I first bought them when I saw them in an embroidery magazine. I bought a Christmas package and have really gotten good use from them. I LOVE Embroidables, especially the Dolly Mamas. I made purses for my three girls with Dolly Mamas on the outside pockets. Also did jeans purses for granddaughters and others with Embroidables designs. This is a terrific message board and I'm looking forward to reading and sharing with everyone. Great idea! Are you looking to quote someone's post or just create a new thread?

If wanting to answer someone's post(quote) then in the bottom of each message posted you'll see a button that says "quote", click that and a window will open and the post you are quoting will be at the top. Type underneath that making sure to post after the brackets that have /quote in them.

If you just want to add your comments to a thread, then at the bottom of the page, click "post reply" and a new window will open. Type there and then click "save"

I started machine embroidering about two years ago with the purchase of my Pfaff 2170. Shortly after that I started working in the store where I bought my machine. We also sell Babylock machines, with which I quickly fell in love. Embroidables.com was one of the first sites I downloaded from, and have loved it ever since. I even had my boss (store owner) download Renee Lundgrens's first Christmas set. She liked it so much, we are now an Embroidables dealer! Needless to say I have learned A LOT about embroidery in the last two years since I have to know what I'm talking about in order to help my customers. Having a site like this one that I can recommend, where I know beginners can count on the quality of the designs, makes my job a lot easier, and gives those beginners confidence in their abilities. There are great books to teach kids to sew - check Amazon .com for Winky Cherry's book -an oldie but a goodie. It may also be available at Nancy's Notions.com. Our kid's sewing teacher in my shop where I work keeps her projects simple, with great fabrics the kids love. Start with the sewing machine basics (threading, bobbin, sewing a seam) then move on to easy patterns (laying out, cutting out, piecing and seaming.) Don't forget the stuff the patterns never mention - finishing seams, etc. Most important is to make it fun so the kids want to come back for more. Good luck!

I know I'm kind of biased because I sell Babylocks, but they really do have the best service record as well as the best warranty in the industry. They are so easy to use! (This is from someone who has sewn on Pfaffs fro 20 yrs!) If you are thinking of buying a machine make sure your dealer will give you all the support you need!
