I'm very excited this morning as I've just paid for my tickets to the USA. I live in Australia and I've been lucky enough to visit many other countries including the US but this time will be really special.

I'm making the trip to attend my nephew's wedding in Florida on New Year's Eve! I am also his Godmother so he is very special to me.

My sister has been living in Miami for over 30 years and I have a brother in New York (for the last 15 or so years) so it's a fabulous opportunity to catch up with both of their families. They are both married to Ameriacans and have seven children between them. My sister also has one grand-daughter so there will be much catching up to do.

My husband and I will leave Australia on the 27th of December and we are both sooooo excited.

I come from a big family of eight children but I'm the only one from Australia who will be able to make the trip to the wedding, which means my brother an I will be carrying the flag for our side of the family.

Usually at our family weddings there are 50 or more family on our side and often many less from the "other" side so this will be a new experience for me.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!!!

This sounds sooooooooooo exciting. I hope you have a wonderful time. I come from a big family as well and I know what these gatherings can be like even though they get harder as people get older.

Have a wonderful holiday!!!! I am excited for you. I can't even get one of my six siblings anywhere near us this Christmas --- Oh well!! Maybe next year.

Oh how exciting for you to be coming to the US! I guess you can be thankful to that you'll be heading to FL because the midwest or East would not be such fun as it will be the dead of winter and freezing cold with possibly TONS of snow as usual. You'll have lots of fun in FL though where it will be nice and warm.

Lizann,
Hope you have a great time in Miami. I am only about 45 minutes north of there. You will LOVE the weather here. There is a GREAT quilt store in Margate, FL, if you get the chance.

Thanks for the replies, the excitement is building here! We are looking forward to Florida winter as we have been experiencing a heat-wave here. All of last week was over 42 Celsius, about 108 in your scale, so it will be lovely to cool down.

We will be going up to New York after New Year's so we will cop some of the freezing weather as well. Where my brother lives at Stony Point they have had white Christmases, in fact they moved into their home some years ago on Christmas eve and they and some friends were snowed in by a blizzard for a couple of days.

We have already done a lot of sightseeing and touristy things in New York though so we plan to stick close to home and enjoy family time. We might sneak into town though to catch a show on Broadway.
