I buy a lot of fabric. I buy most of it at the Seamstress Boutique at Sewing Mamas message board. I also buy from vairous etsy and ebay stores that carry the Japanese fabric that I hoard!
I occassionally buy fabric from Walmart, but mostly I just get my plain cotton wovens there, and my stabilizers. Sometimes a cute print or two, and I've found some nice gems in their clearance sections :)
I only get to Joann's or Hancocks 3 or 4 times a year, but when I do, I buy a LOT of fabric there....

I am first and foremost a quilterr but love to embroider as well. I would say that 90% of my fabric has come from quilt shops (either in person or online).

But my stash is so huge now that I have decided that I am going to curb my impulse, gotta have it fabric purchases. I know there will be certain "staples" that I need to buy but I'm really going to try hard to buy those things as the need arises.

We have a wonderful fabric shop in Jasper, which is about 30 min. from where I live. It's a small shop but she has some great things and I love to go. She has fabric, ribbon, machines, notions, etc. It's called "Sew this little shop...

There is a hancock's near me, and several Wal-marts.

Thank God my two favorites didn't get rid of their fabric section!

I also buy from www.fabric.com, and www.reprodepot.com. LOVE repro depot!

I buy from Joann's and my local quilt shop. If I need something that I can't find, I look on e-bay.

I get most of mine from either Joann's or Hancock's, but there is also a really good quilt shop that I get fabric from for special projects.

Both my walmarts have *sworn* to me that they aren't getting rid of their fabrics, but the ladies who work in the fabric department said they'd bet their paychecks that it gets "remodeled" in July :(

I do not like to buy fabric online, because I cannot touch it. We have a walmart and a jo-anns so those are my spots. Walmart for quilting fabrics (some are only 2.00 a yard which is decent for me) and Jo-anns for garment fabric (because walmart has bupkis for "nice" fabrics).

Definitely mostly from quilt shops, especially if I'm making a quilt. I'll buy flannels at JoAnn's or Hancock's, but not cottons. The quality just isn't there like at quilt shops.

Jo Ann's, Hancocks when I visit a town that has one, a wonderful quilt shop about 30 minutes away, and ebay. Ebay is a bit hard, because I have to rely on monitor colors, and descriptions by the seller that are not always 100% accurate. We moved once and I got rid of my lifetime stash, but never again! The only way I am getting rid of the fabric I have is to make things with it.

I feel so blessed to be living in an area with an abundance of fabric stores. Not only do we still have several Hancocks and JoAnn fabric stores, we also have numerous wonderful quilt shops. Of course, since I mostly do home decor' sewing, I'm thrilled with variety of home decor' fabric stores in the Dallas area. Plus, we have a bunch of fabric outlets off of Harry Hines.

If anyone is ever going to be in the Dallas area and wants to know where to shop, just give me a shout...I know where just about every shop in the area is...:p

For my Dee Rags I usually buy at Hancocks or Hobby Lobby. For quilts I also go to quilt shops for a better quality and choice of fabrics. I also shop online, favorite is equilter.com.

Most of mine comes from Walmart. It is the only place withing 30 min drive that sells fabric. Some comes from Hancock and occasionally I can get to the Hobby Lobby. That is it for stores in our area. If I want something special, I have to order it online.

I have a Hobby Lobby, Hancocks, and JoAnn's all within 5 minutes of my house, all down the same street! If I go a little further, about another 5 minutes, there's a Walmart. I have enough fabric to insulate my house (but I'll deny that if anyone tells my husband.)!

Mama - now that's funny. :p
I'm sure that are lots of us that can say the same thing. When my husband and I built our current house, one of his main requirements was that we have a dedicated space away from everything else so that he wouldn't have to look at my fabric...
