Hi
I was hoping someone could help. I have been embroidering some baby clothes and would like to put some sort of soft fusable mesh on the back as I've seen on RTW stuff. I think the threads on the back are a little untidy as well as slightly scratchy for baby skin.
I live in NZ and can't find anything suitable in the shops here but searching on the net I have seen some under the brand "Comfort Mesh" sold in the US.
I was wondering if any had an opinion on this. Does it work? What would be similar products and what's good?

Thanks for your help!

I've replied with a private message about the product I use, but I don't think that I can mention the website here on the message boards.

Thank you :-)
I had seen that ... glad to know it works and cheaper to buy from Aussie than for the States
Cheers

You can use something called Floriani Dream Weave which works well but, a cheaper alternative is a product sold at fabric stores which is a fusible tricot knit which is very thin yet stretchy and will cover the embroidery threads which can be an irritant to tender baby skin or anyone who is bothered by scratchy threads. I've used that instead of the much more expensive alternative and it works well. It is found in JoAnn's where they sell all the other interfacing items.

We dont have JoAnns over here though Vicki, and I've looked and looked for something similar (have seen a few commercial items with it on) and NZ is very very limited. Being able to buy from Aussie though will be great, so thanks Lizanne!!

oh.. I didn't know there were more responses... yay!
Hi Emma :wavey:
yeah.. we are SO limited with all craft and fabric stuff. That's the problem with living on a small island miles from anywhere lol. I wish Spotlight was better.. they really suck!
Where do you get your embroidery stuff from Emma? I usually get mine from Sotech and they are great. Great service and really quick to send .. as well as being heaps cheaper than in the shops. I asked them about stocking mesh and they said no sorry. The lady said that they often got enquires but her boss insisted that the back of embroidery wasn't scratchy!
I've seen it on RTW clothes too. Such a pain its not sold here. I guess there aren't really aren't garment factories still running here now. Sad that even Pumpkin Patch has taken all production to China :(

anyway.. sorry for the novel :D .. Looks like I will have to buy from the Aussies ;)

hi, dont know if you have found an answer, but i use a fusablr mesh called french fuse. works great in baby things and protects your embrodery. sounds like the same thing. IN US IT COMES FROM HANCOCKS OR JOANNES.
