I love your apron! The flowers are such a great match for the fabric...and I love the name of the design too!

LOTTIE IS HERE! About three weeks early, but everything is fine. Since I did not get her package mailed in time, guess I will just have to drive to Kansas City to take her new blanket and burp and dress. Oh well. :-)

Congrats Aunt Nancy! Yep. You're just going to have no other choice but to hop into that car and drive up there? Over there? Down there? I can't remember which direction it is from Springfield. LOL My Mom's family was all from MO - Grandpa/Grandma lived in Neosho for all their lives, Aunt/Uncle in Warrensburg and one of their daughters lived in Springfield for a long time. You aren't that far from KC though are you? I seem to remember it not being that far away. Of course, given the fact that I'm getting older my brain could be messing with my memory. :D

Aww, I'm sure that the great things your made for her will be welcomed, but I'm sure that they would rather have them personally delivered :) Nice to hear that all is well with the early arrival!

Kim, your quilt is too cute, my grandaughter would just love it. I really should try to make time for patchwork as I haven't done it in years except to make little floor quilt/mats for babies. I love your idea so much I might just have to go through my stash!

Kim

Kim, I have two grandaughters and the one I was referring to, Ariel is nearly three years old. She loves to have things made especially for her and is always very appreciative. My second grandaughter, Juliet is her little sister and is 5 months old. I also have a three year old grandson, Jack and another grandbaby expected in September. I think that may be all the grandchildren I ever get though, as my other two children are unlikely to ever have any!! Far too fixated on careers.

Doesn't seem like there is any interest.

You know - many people may be like me - I am doing several projects but the designs are not all from this site so we keep them to ourselves. I think everyone may have the interest but maybe the interest is so wide we are doing a million different things!

Just a thought.....

I think Susan has hit the nail on the head. I did a couple of gorgeous items last weekend, but couldn't share them as the designs weren't from Embroidables.

I seem to be more busy sewing than embroidering lately though lol

StitchinGrandma

I am too busy buying designs since I have become an excellent collector of pretty things. Kidding.

In my case I had surgery in Feb. and then had complications from that and since it was my palm and thumb I had limited capabilities. The complications were that I got an infection as well as some movement issues and had to go to physical therapy. Then too, I took my machine in when I had that surgery to be cleaned and have two parts replaced and they kept if for 4 weeks. And the worst part is that since the infection I have been super sick with very strange things going on with my body. I can't say anymore as it is would get into the TMI area. :D I just saw my doc and she did tons of lab work on me to see if that showed anything and nope, as usual tests all showed I'm normal. Other than the one that showed my blood was double where it should be for my protime so my blood was way too thin and would give some explanation why I'm so tired.

And then too it's SPRING (YAY) so many are outside enjoying that and are very thankful this nasty winter is finally gone.

Like it was mentioned we can't enter the contests using any other designs and if those who are sewing and embroiderying aren't using Jami's awesome designs they can't enter those things.

It goes in streaks where at times the contest will fill up with all 10 entries in less than a week and then other times it goes for months. I know when you've got an entry you start getting antsy to find out if you've won. :D Hopefully soon it will receive the last few entries needed to end the current contest.

I've been using Embroidables designs a lot lately, but the items are all things I've copied from this site, so I don't think that they creative enough for the competition. My girls have girlfriends that are all having babies, so tons of burp cloths (from the tutorial on this site) and hooded towels (from the tutorial on this site) and blankies and onesies (courtesy of the Inspiration pages from this site). I especially love the clever colour changes some members have made to designs, so far I've only copied their ideas but I am going to try one of my own tomorrow!

My biggest complaint about the lack of entries is that I need some new stuff to copy!! I keep thinking that if I hang around with all of you clever, talented ladies it will rub off on me. So far, not so much. Good thing they say "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". You should all feel very flattered!

Thanks ladies. It is the one color, was hard to get a good picture of it. I knew as soon as I saw the design when it came out, that it'd be perfect on jeans. So was stoked when I finally got to put it to good use!!!

Katie ~ Great job on that picture frame. Love it. Isn't Organza wonderful? I love using that for stuff like this. It is excellent to use for any regular design that you want to make into a faux free standing lace design which is pretty much what you did with this one. Also, if you have a FSL design from another digitizer* that wasn't done quite the right way and love the design, this is the way to still be able to use it by layering Organza with the WSS and then stitching it.

*HINT TO JAMI :p ~ I'm still crossing my fingers you will release some Dolly Mama's as FSL OR some of the other designs even. I bet you Dolly Mama's as FSL would sell very good. How cool would that Breast cancer Dolly Mama have been as a FSL that I could have stitched out and then attached to the Breast cancer tote I made for my MIL by a keychain or something??? :D NOT that you have anything else to do. HA

Uh, oh, please don't hold your breath for those ones, Vicki. I don't want to be responsible for you passing out. I have about five design collections that we just got back from our digitizer that need to be stitched and uploaded first. That means, it'll be a bit for the FSL, if at all. Did I just open a can worms, telling you I have five new collections waiting to be stitched?

Since no one seems interested in entering the contest why don't you close it at 9 entrees. This contest have going on for almost two months. I think you should have a set time even if you don't get 10.

Stitchn-Jeans

It was already explained to you once that we used to have a set time for the contest and that wasn't working. Because of that Jami changed the way it's done which is her choice since it's her site. The contest can stay open until we get 10 entries since that is what she wanted to try and really, there isn't a big hurry to rush to get those 10 entries. At least I'm not aware of any rush to get to the 10 entries. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

I am very thankful that Jami offers this contest to her members and is SO SO VERY generous with the prizes. I've never seen any other designer anywhere that gives this much away for a contest which is an ongoing contest. Usually something with this big of a prize is a once a year type contest.

I hope she continues offering this to all of us although if it becomes negative I'm fairly sure she won't. I know I sure wouldn't if it were my site.

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but you've asked this same thing before and it was already explained. I really did not want to post this but didn't want you to think you are being ignored either.

Emma
05-20-2010, 04:28 PM
Vicki, I totally agree with you, there is no hurry to have the contest close.
And I think this way, it gives everyone a fair chance to enter.

It's an amazing thing that Jami and David are doing, over $100 per contest in prizes, that's huge. And when you multiply that by 12 when the monthly contests were running, thats over $1300 a year just in prizes for their customers alone.

Keep it up guys, we all really appreciate everything you do for us.

Vicki,

I know that I think it is wonderful that Jami and David sponsor a contest! :star: Any other site has an area that you can post your work, but none offer a contest! I love the chance to win a prize even if it is a 1 in 10 shot! (And one more chance when you vote!)

Ok everyone ~ we now have ten entries. YAY!

I have just closed that thread so no more can be posted and have also sent an email off to Jami. I'm possibly wrong BUT, I think this might be about the time they are off picking kids up from school and getting supper or other family responsibility type things done. Give them time to get the voting all set up. I'm sure it will be done as soon as they can.

Good luck everyone.

I like the contest just as it is. I know that I have not had the time in the past few months to get anything done to enter, but hopefully that will change soon. I just appreciate all the ones who have entered. There is no hurry to get to 10, we would just wait around for 9 more entries....Keep up the great work Jami and David. We love ya!

Not that I can really say much since I've only entered one so far myself but, I'm not sure why we can't get more to enter. We have tried to figure out a way to get more interested in the contests and in posting too even and haven't found a way to do that yet. :( I'd LOVE to see more posting to the message board more often. It's not like there are any drama queens or anything here as one might see on many other sites so really, there's no reason to be afraid. We've never had any problems with anyone being picked on or anything like that which is amazing but SO WONDERFUL so I don't know why we can't get more interested in posting.

I know I've tried to be super helpful if anyone has any questions and even have the direct link in my signature if they anyone wants to ask maybe how to post or something in a PM to me. I just don't know Emma. As of right this minute we have 1091 registered members so you'd think we would have a busier message board but then too, many of those are purchasing members who may not have any interest in this part of the site. They may still read through and get answers to the things they might have questions about which is still great for them. I wish they'd say hi though once in awhile. Maybe some day we'll entice them to start posting or at least post once in awhile.

Vicki,

I think it is funny that you mentioned that "maybe someday we'll entice them to start posting..." and there already is an enticement...once you get to 100 posts! I wonder where the 115+ people are who voted, this contest certainly seemed to get alot of attention.

Definitely only one drama queen here, and that's one of the Dolly Mama designs :D

Yea I know Katie. I am not sure that offer is still available though. It was supposed to end at one time and then Jami said she would continue, if I recall, to the end of the year. But, many people did that and then got the credits then left with great designs. I'm not sure how many actually continued to post after getting such a great thing like that from Jami but I know a lot of great people did. :)

There are many new people who are afraid to post and say hi but still come and read. Hopefully they'll be brave and come say hi soon.
