I am new to machine embroidery & have only tried out 2 designs so far & love it - but have been on many sites this last while to learn everything I can from others about stabilizers, brands of threads, etc. that others like.

Welcome to this site. I'm sure you will learn a lot of great info from this message board. Using the search feature at the top of the page you can search for almost anything you want more info on. We have had discussions on almost everything that I can remember right now so doing a search for "stabilizers" or "threads" will get you a lot of help in your new hobby.

Some of Jami's design sets do have a sample or two in them so be sure to check every set page to find those. Then you will find out why we all just LOVE Jami's designs. Her designs always stitch out perfectly.

You're welcome Cyndi. I'm sorry I hadn't mentioned that to you when I first saw you post for the first time. Normally, I try to mention it but I've been dealing with some health problems so it may have been one of my 'off' days where I was typing as little as possible. I'm recovering from some hand surgery I had in February so that's entirely possible. I'm glad you saw this now though. Using the search feature is wonderful because it works really well on this site.

Something else, have you bought any designs yet? There's a great thing that David and Jami have encorporated into the site when you purchase designs that I don't know of any other site that has it. For every purchase you do, you will automatically recieve shopper rewards back which will show up as a credit at the top of your page. You automatically receive a 10% credit for anything you buy from the site. How great is that?!

Also, in regard to some of the questions members have because they are new to the embroidery hobby, or even to some of us that have done it awhile as a nice review if we forget things you can get some great info from this page (http://www.embroidables.com/store.php?page=Tips).

Also, if you get stuck for ideas to use the designs, there is a wonderful page to give you some inspiration here (http://www.embroidables.com/store.php?page=inspirations). Click the links under any of those and you'll see larger pictures.

Vicki! Thanks for all of the useful info... don't worry about not mentioning the stablizer.. chances are you may have and I just didn't see it! LOL.. I've been known to "skip read"... LOL..
As for buying designs.. haven't done that.. I'm so very new at this .. although I've owned my machine for 4 years... I just got a card adaptor/reader/thingy... hopefully I'll be able to figure that thing out and get some cool designs.. LOL..
I'm very anxious to use all of the helpful info you've linked me too.. wish me luck.. I tend to wander from area to area as my eyes catch sight of other things! LOL.. I think these days they call that Attention Deficit.. LOL...

I think when it comes to embroidery we all have slight ADD problems. It seems we are all easily distracted by all the pretty designs and want to use them right away so things get started and then we push aside to stitch out the next pretty design. FOCUS is the word we all need to learn. LOL

There are a few sample designs in some of the sets on the Embroidables site. Go through all of the sets and keep an eye out for them. Then you can practice using designs you KNOW will stitch out perfectly. By starting with a design you know has been tested and will work well then if there are problems while stitching them out you know to look at other options such as correct stabilizers, needles, threading the machine etc. Good luck.

Also, since some do get confused when they download their first designs here as there is a different process to that, go the the home page here http://www.embroidables.com/ and look down the left side for the "Download help" link. Click that and read those directions. Once you do it you will be just fine after that. It's very easy to do and you may not even have any problems doing it the first time but I thought I'd point that out just in case you do.

I need to read up on the card reader and figure that out too... LOL.. life has a way of interupting the fun.... although I was told this week my work hours will be shortened a great deal so I should lots of free time.. we'll see.. I'm sure those hours will be filled with lots of things.. LOL
Hope you are enjoying your weekend.. our weather is beautiful for outside fun! LOL
