In an effort to feed my family healthier meals on a regular basis, I have decided I MUST start making a menu. For the ease of it, I've decided to do biweekly menu's. Biweekly so that I'm not overwhelmed in trying to plan too much at once, but still spread out enough that I'm not spending too much time making trips back and forth to the grocery store. Anyone else, LOVE grocery shopping as much as me? NOT!

I've been searching through quite a few blogs to gather ideas and recipes. I think I've come up with some pretty good ones, but wonder if I've missed even better ones. Do you know of any yummy, delicious, cooking/recipe/meal planning blogs that are must reads? Or perhaps you have a favorite, tried and true tip. Please share!!

Here's my favorite food blogs that I've come across:
Pioneer Woman (http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/category/all-pw-recipes/)
My Kitchen Cafe (http://www.melskitchencafe.com/)
Family Favorites (http://www.favfamilyrecipes.com/)
This Week for Dinner (http://thisweekfordinner.com/)

Oh gosh Jami ~ I have SOOOOOOOOOOO many sites and blogs but mostly I use all my recipes on my own computer to make my menus. You and I wrote before so you probably remember how much I LOVE Pioneer Woman's blog(s). OH and I recently purchased her cookbook. It's the very first cookbook I have ever read cover to cover in two days. Actually I have NEVER read an entire cookbook cover to cover before; that's how great hers is. And considering I have probably somewhere near 300+ cookbooks on my kitchen bookshelf and even more on an overflow bookshelf next to my washing machine that's saying a lot about her book.

I'll take a peek over the next few days and see if I can't find a few others you might like. (what I SHOULD do is make a CD of all my recipes and send that to you :D )

Haha, I knew you'd chime in quick based on previous emails. ;) You always have such good ideas.

With so many recipes readily available online, I vowed to never buy another cookbook again. However, I have heard great things about hers. Are all the recipes DIFFERENT than what's already on her site? Or is there an overlap?

Vicki,

It looks like you and I have another common obsession...collecting cook books! I can honestly say that my current collection is over 400 books; I have two bookshelves full in my guest bedroom. I keep saying that I am going to have go through them and get rid of the ones I never use, but I believe if you can get one two or three good recipes from each book it is worth buying and hanging on to.

Now you have me really curious about the Pioneer Woman's book; I think I will take a look next time I am at Barnes & Noble. (I took a look at the website and it is fabulous!)

If you are like me then getting rid of ANY cookbook, even if it's a free pamphlet from a food company is like cutting off an arm. :p When my son moved home from college we had to clean the back room where he would stay as it had become a dumping ground for things. To do this, the storage room next to that one had to be totally reorganized to enable moving things over there. This meant removing a large bookshelf in that other room to give room for an industrial type shelving unit. On that bookshelf was about four boxes of overflow from my two bookshelves holding cookbooks. I went through those boxes with the thought of getting rid of those books. HA! DID NOT happen. The minute hubby took them off the shelf to go toward the van I made him stop so that I could go through those first. WHY I have no idea since I hadn't touched any of them in almost three years but I just couldn't allow myself to get rid of them without at least looking. I did manage to get rid of quite a few but then one of those boxes was packed full of all those clippings from magazines, newspapers, and off of the back of boxes of food and those I refused to dump out. :D

Oh and her site is just awesome. I love reading all the different blogs she's got on her site and then the Tasty Kitchen site is wonderful.

I just came across this food blog in my search for a pimento cheese recipe (I love the stuff, but you have no choice but to make your own here in Texas!) OK, I don't think that a single recipe is low in calories, but with the weather getting a bit cooler I thought I would share this with you. http://www.deepsouthdish.com/

Here's the one I had run across (http://cookingventures.blogspot.com/2010/06/pimento-cheese-spread.html)and sent to my friend. This looked exactly like what you were searching for. This guy has a great food blog too.

Too funny Jami. I bet she'd absolutely LOVE Baby. He could care less about being squished by kids. Carys chased him around a bit and rather than get mad at her, he just wandered off and found a nice hiding place.

Diana ~ I am always here if you're looking for a recipe. I was stumped on the cheese one at first but, most often I have what anyone is looking for. My first love is cooking and baking. :D
