Hey everyone,
I did a test stitch on a cheap kitchen towel. Needless to say the design is darling, but the blank leaves a LOT to be desired. Also, I didn't read the directions well, and didn't do the applique on the sign.
I hated to throw it out, so I stitched some gross grain ribbon on the bottom to finish it.

Kathy I think it looks adorable! Love the added touch of the grosgrain ribbon :)

I have been doing this with towels and ruffled ribbon and grosgrain at the bottom to sell and for friends. I changed the colors of the outfit to chocolate and blue. I liked those better. I did the same thing, I did not do the applique the first time and liked it so I kept doing it the same way. They are just too cute. She really did a cute job on her towel up top!

I think it is really cute. You know there is no mistakes in embroidery just new found ideals : )

That's true- keep the towel for yourself- it's cute!

We always end up with the mistakes in our house, and give the "perfect" ones to family and friends. Yours looks fine, especially with the pretty ribbon at the bottom. Good idea.

....One thing I have done is I like the looks of it better slightly off set because the center mark in the pattern counts the sign and then the doll looks off center. So I have adjusted it and saved it in my designs with the new center I like to use ! Just my opinion.
I do that, too. It's a good thing these designs don't wear out like paper patterns, my DM's would be history!

I skipped the applique the first time (by accident) also. I still have the piece of fabric ...waiting for a project. I wish I had thought to put it on a dish towel. The second time I stitched it, I put it on an old denim shirt. I did the applique and love the way it turned out.

I think it looks great... sometimes those test stitches are great for keepers.
