View Full Version : So what is on YOUR Holiday Wish List?
Is it a new machine? Or a fully stocked thread cabinet? How about a couple of dozen well drooled over Embroidables design sets?
Or do you, like my mamma always did, just want a new pair of warm slippers?
Whatever is on your list, how do you drop the hints?
I personally wanted a clover mini iron with the detachable tips.
After explaining it several times to my husband, and a covert trip by him to the fabric store where he was clueless, he finally gave me the money told to buy the "whatever it is"and let hom wrap it up and stick it under the tree.
Usually I just let him off with a gift card.

My mil actually asked me just this morning what I wanted. I told her to get me an Embroidables gift certificate. I hope she comes through with it. She even asked for the spelling. Crossing my fingers!!

I usually end up buying what I want for Christmas and then I hand it over to my husband to wrap up and give to me.
What I would really like to get is some digitizing software, but that's kind of out of our price range at the moment. Guess I'll just have to keep buying my designs here! :D

Sewing related: I really want the Generations digitizing software. Non sewing related: I really want a digitial SLR camera. I love photography, and I'm just starting to really get into it. We'll see if I get either one!

It seems like money is tight everywhere this year, you are not alone. My husband has been moping around for the past month thinking he is going to get fired because there is not enough business at his store. So I have started clipping every article in the newspapers about the sluggish economy and retail sales or house forclosures here in Ohio so that he can show them to his boss in the even he gets grilled on why no one is spending thousands of dollars on jewlery like they have in past years.
He is complaining about me buying so many presents for kids that are not ours this year but it because I know so many people that will not be able to provide Christmas gifts to their children without help and I know from experience that the gifts from outside donations do not always match the child that receives them (at the age of 12 I got a set of dish towels through some local charity I never figured that one out). He agrees with me every time, I think he just likes to play the Grinch role.

I definitely understand the money issues. That's why I had to go get a job. It started out part-time, but now I'm working at least 40 hours a week. Just wish it was full-time pay.
I was doing fairly well helping out the finances with my sewing, but that has dried up quite a bit this year. I do have several projects I'm working on with a decorator, but not enough to cover everything. Even though I'm exhausted all the time, I am grateful for the job I've got.
Now I just need to convince my kids that the world isn't going to end if they don't get everything they want for Christmas.

Hmmm....what's on my wish list. Well, it was a new smartphone since my old cell phone had been dropped and drooled on too many times by my baby. But, I couldn't go any longer without one, so I got myself one last week. :p However, I still do have a new SLR lens on my list, hubby, if you're reading this. :D Oh, wait, never mind, I ordered it myself last night off Amazon. You can wrap it and put it under the tree, though.
In all seriousness though, my parents are coming to spend Christmas with us and that will be the very best gift ever. They live in Memphis and we live in Oregon and even though we get to see each other several times a year, it's usually not at Christmas time. So, it's going to make it an extra special year to have them here with us. Plus, my boys are at the age where they still "believe" and really get into the magic of the season. As a parent, I think that's what we want most...is to see big smiles on our children's faces on Christmas morning (of course, seeing them play with their new toys for more than a day would be nice, too. ;) ).

That's awesome about your parents being there this year. I just typed in another post about how I miss the years my children were still at home and here on Christmas morning. Enjoy those years Jami! They grow up far too quickly.

wear your embroidery every where you go --we were in a bank one day and the teller said can you do some thing like that for our 4 wheelers club i took her ## down bjoyed call them and ended up with a 8hundred dollar 30 shirt & hat job -- it is as easy as that lots of times--so never go any where with out something embroidered on !!:)
John - what digitizing software program do you use? As of right now I don't have anything other than the Janome 10000 Customizer and OESD's Explorations. I can't do much digitizing, but I can do several fonts and I can combine designs.

I've been thinking that a lot lately...mostly about the "last times" in their life. Like the last bottle my baby drank and how I knew that his "cuddle" era was pretty much over at that point, etc. etc. I don't want those times gone. When things get busy I try my best to take a step back and remember what's most important. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is NOT the last year before my oldest (7) finds out about Santa.

Oh the day you realize they really DO know there's no such thing as Santa it seems like the end of the world. I remember that so well. There were a few years that I just knew they all three knew there was no Santa but they hadn't 'fessed up to that knowledge yet so I just pretended not to know. I think those years were more for me than them. LOL
They just grow so fast. Some days when they are being so bad you want to kill them but then thankfully, they have all those good days that melt your heart in between those bad ones. OR they look at you and bat their little eyes they know you can't resist. What's funny is that those days when you really wanted to kill them are the ones you look back on years later and can laugh about and remember them. Those are the memories you can pass on to their kids. :D

today is the day you should call your store the upgrade for the customizer is about 2 hundred dollars !:elefant:
John - thanks for the info. I'm going to send an e-mail to my store and see what they have going on right now. I feel like I can do so much more if I can actually create designs.

Jami -- enjoy those small milestones even as they come and go. It gets worse -- much worse. Like when your son can't come home for Christmas because they're going to the in-laws instead. But if you're lucky, you get Thanksgiving as a consolation prize. :argh:

Well, I already got a new tile floor in the living room, new carpet in the guest bedroom, a new furnace, and a new double hung window. Thankfully, I got a goooood bonus, so it is already paid for. I am blessed !!!
