What is it that inspires your projects?

Do you see something at a store, and think- I can do that?
or, is your project inspired by need, design, or from other inspirations you have see on line?

I think I get inspired when I see their faces light up. The creativity is only as far as your imagination can take you.

I'm most inspired by seeing other projects and thinking *I can do that* or those items in stores that give me ideas to do something else similar but with a small twist to it sometimes.

When seeing different designs on digitizers websites sometimes that gives me ideas of things that can be made with those. That's inspiring as well.

The Phrase... You made that? Really?

The Phrase... You made that? Really?

I get that too, but I am a little odd so it is usually followed by the question "Why?" (The dress I wore to my law school formal last spring was a marie antoinnette style gown made of black and purple satin complete with pocket hoops...yeah I'm THAT girl)

I am usually inspired by things (usually clothing) that I see where I love one part of it but hate everything else. So it see it and say "I can make this, but I would make it:
a) longer/shorter
b) a different color
c) have no trim/more trim
d) with entirely different fabric
e) all of the above

Fabric and color talks to me. I see something, and sometimes I'll get a flash of what I need to do with it. If that happens, I take it home with me. If it doesn't, it wasn't meant to be. :)

Most of the time the idea pops into my head when I look at the design. Something about the shape, or composition just triggers the idea in my mind. I don't think I ever made anything that I saw in a store, though I will admit to going on the Neiman Marcus web site and drooling over some of their things. The prices make me laugh, so the only way I would have something like that is to make it myself. Maybe someday I will spend some time on my clothes and try to make something like those NM beauties. Meanwhile, my son has embroidery on nearly every article of clothing, and my husband on many, too. I don't have a single one for me, though I have made some pretty pillowcase embroidery.

I get inspired by seeing something that I really like but hate the price tag that is attached to that something. I also get inspired by my youngest daughter who says mom will you make me something. My only child who likes for me to make her something......

Seeing other peoples project on these message board is a big inspiration to me. Some folks come up with the greatest ideas, using fabrics or designs together that I never would have thought of. That's one reason I hate that we can only post pics of projects with embroidables designs on them, we're missing so much other inspiration and knowledge.

It inspires me to look at the beautiful things others post on these forums. I always think "now if I did it this way and added that or left that off, it would be perfect for my mom's/sister's etc. house. Then I try it.

I am insprired by things I see for sale and think of how I could make it even cuter and cheaper! I wish I could look at a design and think of a creative way to use it, but I usually have to see an example first!

An example is almost always what i need! I'm horrible in the creative dept.! I'm inspired by everything i see since i am such a "visual" person
