Well, I've made my friends all the dish towels and hand towels they could ever possibly use. Kitchen items .... not so much. Do any of you have any fun/personal items you've made you'd care to share? Our friends are our biggest fans so lets knock their socks off!

A woman can never have enough tote bags or purses and adding embroidery to those can be quite fun with the right designs. I'll have to think of other things and come back.

I made sets of cards for my friends with their first initial on them. They loved them so much that they said they didn't dare use them. I used a patterned paper for the initial and then stitched around them on a colored piece of cardstock.
Have you ever tried embroidery on soap? I make my own soap with fun stuff in them but you could buy a pretty bar too. I hoop 2 pieces of water soluable stabilizer and a piece of tulle to stitch the design. Then cut the embroidery off of the tulle. Gently wet the soap and stick the design to the soap.
I've also done aprons and chef's hats for friends.

They seem to like aprons a lot--at least it seems that I get one done, hang it on my sewing room closet door, they see it, love it, and it's gone! They also seem to enjoy personalized hand towels for the powder room.

I've made inserts for just about everything...i have one friend who i would always get a new pocket calendar when i went to a particular craft fair. I got a plain one(at a very popularchain store, not sure if i list the name of the store?) with plastic cover and made a piece of fabric with one large initial and placed it between the plastic and the calendar..same with some mugs and large cups..i've tried to think of personal things they need that i know they already use

My friends love these. I get the 2 year calendars from the dollar store. Sometimes they have 1 year calendars with note spaces. I make an insert with their name on one side and a design that fits them on the other. Volia! Quick and easy gift. Some replace the calendar with their check books. I also keep several made up for those last minute need-a-gift moments.

Luggage tags and checkbook covers are always well received.

There are in the hoop projects available for zippered cosmetic cases. They are designed to accomodate embroidery. They are quick and easy and a huge hit. Naturally, they can be used for more than just cosmetics...so every girl needs several. I have one in my purse for receipts. And another one for my 'on-the-go' smocking supplies.

The small wristlet are always enjoyed for gifts. They can be used many ways from cosmetic totes to even a purse!
My daughter uses it for a clutch to take on lunch breaks.

Not that I've made them yet but casserole covers (for potlucks) and curling iron bags would be nice.

casserole covers are great. I found some sun glass holders that are made out of the foam type fabric from the dollar tree and they make great gifts also the cups that you do the inserts in are great.

I would have never thought about a casserole cover. I have just started making can holders "koozies." They are really cute. I have also seen spa/makeup bags. I love those. My sister found a pair of flip flops last year that had ribbon around the center and there was a button with my initials on it. I love those.
