Here are a few pillowcases I have made for gifts. These are a great gift and all the kids love them. I love the designs here because I know I can just embroider them without a test run because they always stitch out perfect.173

They're so cute! Any idea how the ribbons wash? Any puckering (shrinkage)? Did you wash the cases before embroidering?

I did not wash the pillowcases before. They wash great. My girls have many with ribbon and we haven't had any problems.

It is near the opening and then just centered in the middle. Thanks for the nice words.

I am still trying to come up with gifts for my brother's kids. Last year I made them towels. Not a big hit, but they are so spoiled I don't think anything would be!

I LOVE your pillowcases...fonts, designs, ribbon, etc. Is the ribbon above the hem line? Did you digitize the font yourself? Sorry 'bout all the questions but I NEED some children's gifts and these are precious1
Tahnks for sharing!

You are too kind. Thank you for your nice words. The ribbon sits on the hem line and therefore hides it. The font is Fabulous 50's. I LOVE IT. I am not sure where I got it. I just used it on a bath towel and it stitches out so cute.
Thanks again.

What type of stabilizer did you use on these pillowcases? I made some but after I washed them I had problems with the fabric puckering around the design. Yours look fantastic!!

Love the pillow cases - great idea. I, too, am interested in the fonts...I use Embird and get kind of bored with their alphabets after a while.

These are absolutely adorable. What a great idea. My son, who is now almost 23, had his favorite pil-dow that he carried around and had to sleep on. He no longer has the pillow, of course, but it is a great idea for the newest members of my family.

I am dying here!!! These are precious! Carlene-do you know where you got the Fabulous 50's font? I love it, I love it, I love it!!!!

These would make great hostess gifts/shower gifts, sew much you can do. I love the white it is so crisp. What stabilizer is best and did you hoop the fabric & stabilizer together?

jojo5

I just used a heavy tear away. I did hoop it all together. Pillowcases are one of the few things that I still hoop. Thanks for your kind words. Kids love them!

Thanks Joanna & welcome to the message board. I have just recently joined and I have already felt so much kindness & a sincere desire to help. It looks like you've been doing this for a while, so please continue to post your projects & ideas. I've wanted to give up so many times on the whole sewing thing-to the point where it's become a joke w/ my friends & family-but since I've actually been persistent and have kept trying (and messing up at times) it's been a very gratifying thing. :)

Joanna, I have to put my two cents worth in! The pillow cases are absolutely adorable. I have a 7 year old grandson who would love those! I am going to try to copy later after Christmas, my machine has been burning hot since I started checking out this web site. I let it sit idle for a long time, just sitting there and sitting there, no "real" ideas, and NOW all I want to do is sew!!! I loved when there was a newbie to this message board recently who said she had just gotten an embroidery machine, and one of the women replied that she may want to get a crock pot too!!!LOL, I am sorry to say, my husband agrees with that! Please do continue to send pictures of your project, especially since maybe some of them will be for little boys!!

Another question about Jack's, is that a ribbon too. Also do you buy or make your pillowcases?

Fabulous Fifties Font: I looked it up and found it on the Font Trader.com site. It is free and exactly what Joanna used. I love it too , but alas, I have no software that will make it work for me. I am jealous of all of you who do!

These are darling. I am new to this forum. Do any of you sell your nifty crafts. Do you have wholesale houses where you can buy thing like pillow cases, towel, sweat shirts, etc. or are you industrious enough to make them yourself.
