here goes..pics of placemat purses

Not sure how big these are going to come out, but here goes. They actually worked the first time I resized them this time. The purse is like a key lime green and the liner is a black with shades of pink and green dots. I made this one for my mil.

That liner thing kicks my butt sometimes, too! I cut the fabric to whatever placemats I am using. I then sew it up, right sides together and put a gusset in it. Slide it down into the purse and turn the raw edges under and sew to the placemat purse. Of course, I monogram and sew the pocket in before I assemble everything. :)

I love this purse! I would want one that closes. Got any ideas on how to latch it shut somehow? Has anyone used large magnets? I've seen purses in stores like that but don't know where to get that size magnet. Or wouldn't a magnet work with this project?

That monogram and circle of dots is from Monogram Wizard Plus. I have used those circles alot! The handles are attached with grosgrain ribbon.

I just did a google search for placemat purses and the liner I just kind figured out. I am am relatively new to sewing and I have to have pictures!

To close the purse: how about sewing a big, decorative button on the outside near the top edge. Then make a loop out of fabric and sew that near the top edge on the other side? Slide the loop over the button to close the purse.
