For Christmas Eve, our family has an unusual gift exchange. Everything is fun, funky, creative, etc. for the twenty-somethings. The value must be $25. I've decided to give $25 in one dollar bills, folded into unique origami shapes (see some below). What I can't come up with, is something equally as creative to present the gift in ... was thinking maybe an egg carton. Anybody have any other suggestions?

It might be cute if you could find some little boxes that fit one inside the other to make it a little more challenging.

That is so cool! I want to come. :) You could use a paint can that you decorate. A big purse. A treasure chest. A basket. An embroidered pillowcase. A lunch box. A waste basket. Hang them on a tie hanger or on a garland. A glass jar. A shawdow box frame. Maybe one of those ideas could at least be a springboard for something that will work. Do you do the gift exchange like a white elephant game?

Yes! It is a white elephant game and a total blast! I love the way you think Anpola :santaclaus: and you've given me some great food for thought. The weirder the better is my motto. I love the pillow case idea. Now, to come up with an appropriate phrase to embroider ..... Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Ok found a possibility .... Money never sleeps, pal!

Love the "money never sleeps" idea! I love white elephant gift exchanges! Especially the ones that you laugh so hard at the gifts until you pee your pants! :p I'd love to hear some of the other gifts you've given or received in the past.

How does a Yankee swap work?

Last year's hit was a garden gnome. Almost came to blows over that one. Then there was the scavenger hunt culminating in a mountain o'beer. Thankfully, I didn't get that one! Then there's always the boring DVD or book. Our rules state everything must be brand new -- no regifting!

It is my understanding that a Yankee Swap and a White Elephant Swap are one and the same.
